As the best young footballing talent in country Victoria prepares to compete in Geelong, we look at some of the top players to watch. Find out how you can watch it LIVE.

Geelong will host some of the best young footballing talent from country Victoria this weekend.

For the first time since 2019 the Country League Football Association Championships will be held across the Queen’s Birthday long weekend.

And NewsCorp is streaming the action from two different venues across the three days.

We’ve picked out some of the best talent on show during the tournament from the competing regions.

ASHWAD ABDU

LaTrobe Valley

One of the stories of the championships having left Sudan as a child, lived in Sweden and now a promising young sportsman in Australia. The Morwell Pegasus centre half will likely be a key defensive pillar in LaTrobe Valley under-18 boys championship push.

EDE AIBERTI

Geelong

The 13-year-old Geelong Rangers product can play almost position on the pitch and excel. Was playing Geelong Region under-15s last season but has had no problem stepping up to Division 1 seniors this season with six appearances under her belt. Will be a key player as Geelong under-14s chase championship glory on home soil.

GABBY ALLEN

South West Victoria

The star defender will captain South West’s under-18 girls team as it heads up the high the Princes Highway to Geelong. Currently playing seniors for Warrnambool Rangers in the Ballarat District Soccer Association, Allen will be one of the most experienced players in the tournament.

MAX BARKER

Albury-Wodonga

The Wodonga Diamonds young gun has been deadly in front of goal this season. In 11 appearances he’s netted an incredible 42 times, including an bag of eight and two hauls of seven. Will lead the line for Albury-Wodonga’s under-13 boys team and it’s a fair bet he’ll hit the mark in Geelong.

JACOB CHENEY

LaTrobe Valley

The son of former Gippsland Falcons NSL striker Luke, Jacob too has a sharp eye for goal and will be hoping to follow in the old man’s footsteps. Made his LVSL senior debut for Fortuna 60 this season and has four goals in seven appearances at reserve level.

MIA FRARY

Ballarat

Only 13 and already making her mark in BDSA Division 1 for Sebastopol Vikings. Frary has a packed weekend, also playing in under-13 and under-15 open competitions. With 30 goals in 23 appearances across all competitions this season, the young gun will be a focal point in attack for Ballarat’s under-14 girls team.

MAKENZIE HOLY

Sunraysia

One of several talented youngsters in the Sunraysia under-14 girls team that travels to Geelong. Holy certainly has plenty of experience behind her playing across four different age groups this season; under-13 and under-16 girls, under-14 boys and FFS Division 1 senior women for Nichols Point.

ZACH KOLESKI

Ballarat

Played BDSA under-15s last season and has stepped straight into Daylesford’s Division 1 senior side this season seamlessly. The promising young midfielder has eight appearances under his belt in 2022 and a couple of goals to his name. Will be a key figure in Ballarat’s under-16 boys championship side.

DANIEL LIM

South West Victoria

The Lim name is well represented at the championships with Daniel to captain the South West under-18 boys and Gabe to skipper the under-16 boys. Daniel scored a hat-trick in the opening game of the SWVFA Division 1 season against Warrnambool Rangers and will be a goal-scoring threat during the tournament.

LLEYTON PAIN

Sunraysia

The Vic Country under-16 goalkeeper will be looking to impress in Geelong after being selected to face Melbourne City’s academy earlier this year. If Sunraysia is to challenge for under-16 boys championship glory, Pain will have to be on top of his game.

RYLEE STEELE

Albury-Wodonga

Steele will captain the twin cities’ under-14 girls team during the championships. The 13-year-old is already playing for Albury Hotspurs in AWFA Division 1 while also featuring at under-14 level in both the boys and girls competitions and under-17 girls. Has scored 29 times across 30 matches.

DECLAN STOJANOVSKI

Geelong

The classy central midfielder will skipper Geelong’s under-16 boys team on home soil, a good reward for an impressive start to the local season. The Geelong FC junior has crossed to Bell Park this season and has caught the eye with his football IQ and leadership ability.

PAIGE TARLING

LaTrobe Valley

Has been playing for East Gippsland United in LVSL Division 1 for the past two years after graduating from the under-14s. Has made seven appearances this season in midfield and will play a key role in the LaTrobe Valley under-18 girls side in Geelong.

EBONY WEBB

LaTrobe Valley

Enters the championships in good form after scoring two goals in a last-start LVSL appearance against Monash. The Falcons 2000 young gun has stepped up to senior level with aplomb, scoring four goals in five appearances.

PATRICK WILSON

Gippsland

The Leongatha Knights product splits his time between the region’s local league and NPL club Gippsland Knights and will be a key player in Gippsland under-14 boys squad in Geelong.
