VTCA: Yarraville Club names its team of 50 years from 1970-2020
Generations of talented players have been named in Yarraville Club’s team of 50 years, while three people were elevated to legend status. Here’s who achieved the honours.

Being a selector at Yarraville Club has always been a difficult task, but putting the club’s best players of 50 years into one side might have been one of the toughest tasks yet.
Yet for all the challenges, they’ve managed to do it.
At its 50th anniversary dinner on Saturday night, the Victorian Turf Cricket Association side named its 12-man side from a period spanning 1970 to 2020.
Among those selected included Justin Baker who plundered 8985 runs for the club during a remarkable career which finished last season.

Also throughout the evening, the club named three Yarraville Club Cricket Club legends including Alan Pollock, Jimmy Hassett and John “Tubby” Meddings.
The night capped off a perfect day for the club’s current First XI who solidified its place in the Senior Division top-four courtesy of a six-wicket win over Craigieburn.
Captain-coach Mitch Johnstone posted 76 runs from 126 deliveries as his side chased down its target of 165 with just under 20 overs to spare in the day’s play.
The Clubbers set up their victory on day one courtesy of Johnstone’s 3-35 which helped bowl the home side out for 64.
