Rain all but washed out the final round of matches in the VTCA, locking in next week’s semi-finals.

With one round to go, the top four was still open in the top flight Senior Division but Keilor was denied by wet weather with its clash against Aberfeldie declared a draw.

The Blues needed Yarraville Club to lose and it’s match against Westmeadows was also called off.

With Aberfeldie also washed out, Haig Fawkner could have pinched the minor premiership with a big win over Sunshine United but had to settle for second place and a home semi-final next week, defeating the Tigers by 110 runs.

The reigning premier avoids relegation by the skin of its teeth, instead grand final rival Doutta Stars look set for the drop after a winless 2021-22.

Despite missing the top four, St Albans can claim the top three batters in the competition.

Simon Lambert topped the run-scorers charts after another excellent season with the bat, knocking up 532 runs at an average of 44.33 to edge out teammates Arosh Janoda (488 runs) and Brenton Cook (482).

Clubbers superstar Trent Lawford (476) and Keilor’s Nathan Beever (437) round out the top five.

It’s a similar story for the bowlers, Miguel Cummins claims top spot with 27 scalps but Keilor will have to watch on after finishing sixth.

Haig Fawkner’s Khalid Hassan (23), St Albans’ Geeth Alwis (21), Westmeadows’ Aaron Evans (20) and Craigieburn paceman Zac Orr (20) are top-five.

Next week Aberfeldie will host Yarraville Club and Haig Fawkner will face Druids for a place in the grand final.

With the season reverting to a complete one-day format after Christmas the three-game grand final series will return across all divisions.

Meanwhile, the Division 1 top-four had been decided before the final round and will see Deer Park and St Francis de Sales host Altona North and Seddon respectively.

Likewise in Division 2 finals were decided a week before with Sydenham-Hillside to face Williamstown CYMS and Newport-Digman to battle Greenvale Kangaroos for a place in the grand final.

Grand United, Footscray United, East Keilor and Williamstown Imperials are in the hunt for promotion in Division 3 with Sunbury missing finals for the first time since crossing to the VTCA.

Gellibrand, Williamstown Colts, Caroline Springs and St Andrews are eyeing a premiership in Division 4.

St Andrews’ final round draw coupled with a Maribyrnong Park St Mary’s defeat saw them claim fourth place by just 0.087 of a per cent.

Finally in Division 5, Roxburgh Park topped the table ahead of Melton South Royals and will host semi-finals against Williamstown Congs and Footscray Angliss respectively.
