The first half of the Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association has seen some stunning performances across the competition. These are each club’s top performers so far.

The first half of the Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association has seen some stunning performances across the competition.

From century makers and regular run scorers to bowler’s terrorising the opposition.

These are each club’s top performers so far.

EAST GROUP

Harrison Goad (Balwyn)

The former Fitzroy Doncaster quick has enjoyed a standout first season at the Tigers so far, leading the East-West group for wickets with 15 at an average of 14.20 from 59.5 overs, including a best of 4-29.

Jordan Ludgater (Bayswater)

The Baysie recruit has hit three half-centuries in his six matches for a total of 220 runs at an average of 36.7 and a best of 66.

Brad Yates (Box Hill)

Averaging 46.6 with the bat for a total of 233 runs from seven appearances so far – including back-to-back weeks of 92 and 82 across rounds two and three.

Chris Brown (Croydon)

The Croydon quick has had a consistent season with the ball taking 11 wickets so far from 55 overs at an average of 16.5 and a best of 3-18.

Avishka Fernando (Donvale)

The Sri Lankan international has 14 wickets for the season from seven matches, at an average of 13.1 and a best of 4-21. Equal-second for wickets taken in the East-West group, and just one behind Balwyn’s Harrison Goad in top spot.

Dimuth Karunaratne (Endeavour Hills)

The Sri Lankan Test skipper has put on 254 runs from four matches in the East-West group, averaging 63.5. Blasted off on debut with a nice century for the Eagles.

Jake Rigby (Mt Waverley)

Has only gone one match without taking a wicket, of which he has 10 for the season from seven appearances and 57 overs, averaging 16.9 and a best effort of 5-11 against Donvale in Round 5.

Chaturanga de Silva (Noble Park)

Consistent with the ball this season across five appearances, taking nine wickets off 38 overs at an average of 15.7 and a best of 4-19.

NORTH GROUP

Simon Hill (Brunswick)

It has been a stellar first half of the season for Hill who has scored 337 runs for the season, the eighth most in the competition, at an average of 67. The opener has been a consistent performer for Brunswick with two half centuries and a hundred against Plenty Valley. He has also hit unbeaten scores of 47 and 30.

Aaron Ayre (Coburg)

A stunning start to the season with two hundreds and a fifty was the highlight of Ayre’s pre Christmas cricketing performances. He has tallied 352 runs at an average of 50.

Dwayne Hooper (Ivanhoe)

The best individual performance of the season so far with the ball has to go to Hooper who took 6-30 against Port Melbourne to get his side over the line in a nail biter. In five matches Hooper has taken nine wickets in total.

David Wildsmith (Kew)

It has been a solid start to the season for Wildsmith who has two half centuries and a hundred to his name. He has been dismissed three times from six knocks and one was a run out. He has scored a total of 347 runs for the season, the seventh most in the competition.

Henry Cullen (Plenty Valley)

It has been a dream start to the season for Cullen with four half centuries and a century from seven innings. It has totalled 452 runs, the second most in the North-South competition at an average of 75. Cullen’s century of 131 against Port Melbourne was the highlight of the season to Christmas.

Imal Liyanage (Preston)

In just four matches, Liyanage has made 155 runs with two half centuries the highlights. If he can play some more matches he is sure to be a handy player.

Nishal Perera (St Bernard’s)

It has been a top season for Perera who has taken a wicket in all of his eight games except one. He has 15 wickets for the first half of the season, the equal-third most in the competition. He has also been handy with the bat with 143 runs at an average of 36.

Gayan Sirisoma (Strathmore)

A six-wicket haul against Brunswick was the highlight of Sirisoma’s season. From just five games, he has taken 14 wickets, the equal fourth-most in the competition.

SOUTH GROUP

Ricky Damiano (Brighton)

Has found his brilliant best in the last month of action to record two half-centuries and a ton against Port Melbourne. Now has 327 runs for the season.

Daniel Forbes (Caulfield)

Three half centuries from seven hits has been the highlight of Forbes’ season to date. He has only had one score below 20, highlighting his consistency for Caulfield.

William Sist (Elsternwick)

It has been a consistent year for Sist who has 16 wickets, the second most in the competition. He has taken a wicket in every game so far.

Thomas Rickarby (Malvern)

What a start to the season it has been for Rickarby. He has scored three half centuries and a ton which has him leading the competition with 453 runs.

Roshan Livera (Moorabbin)

One of the leading players for his side this season. Livera has provided valuable runs in the middle order and proven to be dangerous with the ball.

Blake Pearson (Oakleigh)

Enjoying a standout season with the ball having taken 15 wickets at 18.6. Has one half-century to his name in a sign of what Oakleigh will be hoping is to come.

Adam Bull (Ormond)

Bull has three centuries to his name this season, the most tons of any player in the competition. The opening batter has been a star for Ormond scoring 439 runs to Christmas, the fourth most in the competition.

Feroze Khushi (Port Melbourne)

Has dominated with the bat in his first stint of the season in Australia scoring 451 runs at 56.4 so far. His record includes two centuries and two half-centuries.

WEST GROUP

Charlie Ward (Altona)

The English import has made a fantastic start to life in Subbies cricket with 14 wickets at the halfway point of the season.

Simon Lambert (Hoppers Crossing)

The new captain-coach at Hogans Rd Reserve has been brilliant with bat and ball to start the season. He’s scored 346 runs including four half-centuries and taken nine wickets.

Jason Hibbert (Melton)

The young gun has taken a big step forward in his development this season. His 337 runs so far eclipse his entire season total from last year.

Dan Schuppan (Spotswood)

With his team flying at the top of the ladder, Schuppan has been a key cog in his side’s form with 14 wickets at 12.4.

Aamir Raza (Taylors Lakes)

On his return to Taylors Lakes, Raza has had opposition teams in a spin with 16 wickets, the third most in the competition, at an average of 15.6. He’s also proven to be more than capable with the bat.

Tim O’Brien (Werribee)

The Tigers captain continues to play an important role for his side despite their slow start to the campaign. O’Brien has the second most runs of any Werribee player and has taken the most wickets with 11 on the back of 6-26 against Yarraville.

Jack Craig (Williamstown)

Continues to impress after arriving at the Seagulls with Premier Cricket experience. Craig has hit four half-centuries and taken eight wickets to the halfway point of the season highlighting his tremendous ability as an all-rounder.

Aidan Salvado (Yarraville)

Putting together a sensational season with 518 runs to his name already including two tons and four half-centuries, to help him to a monster average of 103.60 at the halfway point of the season.
