It was another impressive round of Victorian Premier Cricket under-18 men’s action.
There was a century from a St Kilda rising star in tough batting conditions on a day where the ball did most of the damage.
Here’s a look at the top performers.
POOL A
St Kilda maintained its unbeaten start to the competition with a thumping victory over Dandenong at Harry Trott Oval.
Reyaan Farooq was the driving force behind the victory after scoring an unbeaten century with 101 runs from 102 balls to guide his side to 6-232 as Frederick Newing chipped in with 47 while Lincoln Koliba was the pick of the bowlers with 3-28.
Dandenong largely untroubled the home side in the run chase despite a fighting knock from opener Shaun Thomas who hit 41 off 76 as his side was dismissed for 87.
St Kilda captain Moe Spencer was impressive behind the stumps with four catches.
Camberwell Magpies secured its first win of the competition with a four-wicket victory over Carlton as James Thewlis’ 66-run performance guided his side across the line in an impressive chase.
Maximilian Dias had led Carlton to 205 with 61 off 84 as Xavier Wishart finished with 4-35.
Northcote and Melbourne University’s clash was called off.
POOL B
A stunning bowling display led by Dylan Walker (4-10) and Jack Meyers (3-10) led Ringwood to a thumping nine-wicket win over Frankston Peninsula.
The hosts were all out for just 67 before Ringwood skipper Archie Flynn and William Box both finished unbeaten on 23 to guide their side across the line.
Melbourne was able to hold on for a thrilling seven-run win over Casey South Melbourne after Ben Wickham (55 not out) and Chris Kellaway (67) both posted half-centuries to guide their side to 5-240.
In the end, William Halton’s 74 off 113 and Harry Hoekstra’s 55 from 46 wasn’t enough for the Swans in their run chase.
Prahran claimed an impressive eight-wicket win over Kingston Hawthorn sparked by Senin Seymour’s 3-27 which helped restrict the home side to just 130.
In response, Mitchell Kirkwood-Scott batted beautifully with 71 off 39 to guide his side to an impressive win.
POOL C
Footscray bowlers Daniel Wilczynski (4-28) and Lachlan Hay (3-33) set up their side’s victory over Geelong with a brilliant display on Sunday restricting the visitors to 143 at Henry Turner Reserve.
In response, the home side never looked under severe pressure as Aiman Nadeem top scored with 44.
Richmond was able to hold on for a thrilling seven-run win over Fitzroy Doncaster after it posted 156 led by Adam Snelling’s 46.
Callum Power (4-31) and Caiden Dobson (3-26) then did most of the damage with the ball taking seven between them with the Lions all out for 149.
Meanwhile, Armann Singh’s five-wicket haul proved critical in Greenvale’s three-wicket win over Essendon.
Singh tore through the top and middle order to put his side in a strong position in the run chase that was led by captain Pinnaduwa De Silva’s 69.
