Bat dominated ball across the competition with eight players in this round’s Team of the Week recording centuries. See who made our side.

1. BLAKE THOMSON (Melbourne)

The Demons skipper hit 188 as the Demons almost pulled off a win for the ages, falling 10 short of Essendon’s 412. Thomson was last man out, chopping on while trying to hit a boundary. After 790 runs last season, the right-hander must surely be in state selectors’ minds.

2. BRETT FORSYTH (Dandenong)

Yet another century for Forsyth. A second in as many weeks but the 21st of his imperious career. He’s yet to be dismissed this summer and looks ominously close to his Ryder Medal-winning form of 2019-20 — it’s hard to see him on less than 10 votes already.

3. JAMES SEYMOUR (Essendon)

The champion left-hander peeled off 129, with 18 fours and 3 sixes, to fire the Bombers to a prodigious 4-412 against the reigning premiers Melbourne.

4. FLETCHA MIDDLETON (Fitzroy Doncaster)

The UK import blasted 103 runs off 152 deliveries in his side’s effort of 5-207 against Northcote, batting at No. 3. The Lions went on to win by 50 runs.

5. FARZAN CHOWNA (Essendon)

A maiden century to remember; the Bombers No. 3 made an unbeaten 134 off 193 balls against Melbourne at the Albert Ground to set up a stunning victory.

6. SAM HARPER (Melbourne)

The Victorian and Renegades star belted 109 from 89 balls to give the Demons a sniff of chasing down 412; he hit 7 fours and 3 sixes.

7. CONNOR RUTLAND (Carlton)

The Blues all-rounder typically plays a selfless role in his side and had full intentions to do so again on Saturday. Pushing for runs ahead of the declaration, he plundered his maiden Premier Cricket century off just 82 deliveries. In conjunction with his first-ball-of-the-game run out, it was almost the perfect match.

8. TOM RUSS (St Kilda)

A shining light in a losing cause for the Saints with 97 in the first innings and a more than handy contribution with the ball.

9. WILL WALKER (Camberwell Magpies)

A 5-46 haul from the long-serving Magpie helped his side to a one-wicket victory over Kingston Hawthorn, as he provided the Hawks plenty of headaches through the orders.

10. SEAN MCNICHOLL (Fitzroy Doncaster)

The ex-Greenvale paceman fired with 6-32 off 11 overs to help skittle Northcote for 157 – after the Lions went on to post a declared 5-207 in their 50-run win.

11. JARRYD CAMERON (Ringwood)

A haul of 5-19 off 18 overs on debut helped the Rams see off Melbourne Uni for a second win on the trot. Cameron’s effort included the scalps of Andrej Yaksender and Ali Khan for ducks, while he also halted top-order batsman George Lavelle on a run of 46. The Baysie recruit later backed up a blistering first outing by claiming Uni captain and opener Fergus McKenna.

12. DHANUSHA GAMAGE (Dandenong)

Gamage is incredibly unlucky not to make the playing XI for his century on debut. He looked composed, stylish and dangerous at the crease.
