There’s three weeks left in the Premier Cricket home-and-away season.

The big names are starting to heat up and some of the best the competition has to offer have played their way into our Team of the Week.

There were centuries from Camberwell and Ringwood greats Simon Hill and Tom Rogers while three bowlers claimed a round-high four wickets.

Winning is no guarantee of a place in this team either with 10 teams represented, including one batsman who’s team went down by 10 wickets.

See the team below and have your say in the comments sections below.

SIMON HILL (Camberwell Magpies)

The champion batsman has had a lean season by his lofty standards, but Hill was back among the runs in the Magpies’ five-wicket win over Kingston Hawthorn with his century coming a week after he registered his 300th First XI appearance in Premier Cricket. Hill guided Camberwell to victory with an unbeaten 109 from 149 deliveries, his knock featuring 10 boundaries and a pair of sixes.

TOM ROGERS (Ringwood)

The star left-hander is enjoying a golden summer and put Essendon’s bowling attack to the sword in Round 14, hammering 129 from 120 balls with 11 boundaries and three sixes. It was Rogers’ third ton of a run-filled campaign, lifting his season tally to 601 runs at 60.1. He has five single figure scores from 11 innings, but he has no trouble making big scores once set.

TOM DONNELL (Dandenong)

After the Panthers attack had torn through Northcote, Donnell and Brett Forsyth completed the rout in style, finishing unbeaten for a 10-wicket win at Bill Lawry Oval. While the home team struggled, Donnell made batting look easy in his 110-ball 82 with 10 boundaries. Forsyth played second fiddle but was equally impressive with 54 off 115 balls.

JAKE HANCOCK (Prahran)

The definition of a captain’s knock. Walking to the crease with his team 2-6, Hancock – along with Damon Egan – turned the momentum of the game and put the True Blues on track for a four-wicket win. The pair combined for a 91-run partnership before Egan fell for 65. Hancock carried on and finished the job with an unbeaten 89 from 124 balls.

RAMNEET DHINDSA (Kingston Hawthorn)

Dhindsa moved up to opener last week against Carlton, scoring 11, but found his feet on Saturday against Camberwell and produced a season-best 79. He’ll slot in No.5 in our Team of the Week as a middle order finisher given his innings was littered with attacking strokes – five boundaries and four sixes. Sadly it wasn’t enough for the Hawks who went down to the Magpies by five wickets.

TYLER LARKIN (Geelong)

The Geelong top order hasn’t failed too often this season, meaning Larkin has been starved of opportunity at times this season. However, when called upon on Saturday he answered the call with a match-winning 53 not out at No.6. Also took the catch to get rid of Tigers’ dangerman Scott Edwards.

JOSH HARTILL (Ringwood) (WK)

Hartill posted his highest score for the season in the Rams’ victory over Essendon, hitting 84 from 129 deliveries at the top of the order. He shared a 200-run stand with close friend Rogers for the first wicket and iced his performance with three catches behind the stumps to take the gloves in our side.

EJAAZ ALAVI (Fitzroy Doncaster)

The Fitzroy Doncaster skipper continues to make vital contributions with bat and ball. While Alavi’s 33 and 3-25 were not enough to get his side over the line against ladder-leader Carlton, he has been key to the Lions’ good form. He claimed the big wickets of opposing captain Evan Gulbis (36), Mackenzie Harvey (3) and Nick Ross (0) in the four-wicket loss to the Blues.

JACK PRESTWIDGE (Melbourne)

Prestwidge has been on a serious tear since returning from Big Bash League duties. The Demons paceman ripped through Greenvale’s middle and lower order and finished with 4-18 from his eight overs to set up a 10-wicket win. In the five games since January 30 Prestwidge has claimed 13 wickets.

WILL WALKER (Camberwell Magpies)

Swing bowler Walker produced a season-best haul to help his team collect its third win of 2020-21. He removed Kingston Hawthorn quartet Ramneet Dhindsa (79), Sam Newell (1), Jake Marnie (0) and Abhishek Jain (0) on his way to figures of 4-39 from 10 tidy overs. Walker has 18 wickets for the season.

STEVE REID (Melbourne University)

The Students recorded a last-ball win over St Kilda to stay in the finals race, with paceman Steve Reid their star performer. Reid punched holes in the Saints’ top order as he grabbed 4-31 from 10 overs, removing four of the opposition side’s top-six batsmen. It was comfortably Reid’s best return of the season, with Melbourne Uni prevailing by three wickets.

SCOTT DIXON (Greenvale Kangaroos)

Dixon earns a place in the squad with an impressive half-century against Melbourne. After a 57 for the Kangaroos’ Second XI last week to earn a promotion and the middle order batman backed it up with 56. What made the knock remarkable was Dixon’s scored made up 65 per cent of Greenvale’s total of 81. He was the only batsman to reach triple figures.
