With the VPL2 season kicking off, we can finally reveal every club’s full list of recruits for 2024 with more than 300 players arriving over summer.

The NPL/VPL seasons are officially away.
The VPL2 kicked off on the weekend, while the NPL and VPL1 campaigns are more than a month in now.
It means we can reveal more than 300 new recruits from every club in the top three tiers.
There’s young guns, experienced stalwarts, league medal winners, golden boots and more countries represented than the UN.

ALTONA MAGIC
Alexander Gust: Steps up to NPL football with Altona after playing eight senior matches for Melbourne Victory in VPL2 last season. The hard-working midfielder can make an impact at both ends of the ground and will hope to establish himself as a senior player in 2024.
Saad Moukachar: The 20-year-old South Australian arrives at Paisley Park fresh from being part of the NK Rudes Zagreb squad that won the Croatian Second Division title. Would have gained a wealth of experience playing overseas and now will look to establish himself as a senior player at the Magic, bringing skill and creativity to midfield.
Bul Juach: Came through the Macarthur Academy and spent a season at Wollongong Wolves before heading overseas. Joined Bulgarian Second Division club Dobrudzha Dobrich last year but returns to Australia and will suit up for Altona in 2024.
Jawad Rezai: The 22-year-old is an Afghanistan international, switching to Altona from Hume City. A versatile forward with an eye for goal after scoring six times in 23 appearances in 2023. Came through the ranks of Perth Glory’s youth system and made his international debut against Kuwait in November.
Stephen Lawless: A massive coup for the Magic, securing the reigning NPL2 league best-and-fairest from Werribee City. The Irishman scored five goals in 26 appearances this season to help the Bees finish mid-table. The 28-year-old has played in Ireland, Sweden and New Zealand before arriving in Victoria. Set to play a key role in midfield in 2024.
Nathan Liberto: Spent time with Adelaide United’s youth set up after coming through the ranks at Caroline Springs George Cross. Returned to Victoria with St Albans before joining Brunswick Juventus where he played 20 matches this season. Will add a spark in midfield.
Jay Kelly: Another arrival from NPL2 relegated Brunswick Juventus. Kelly scored four goals in 17 appearances this season and will be a handy addition to the Magic attack. The 28-year-old also has experience at Canberra Olympic, Richmond, St Albans and Werribee City, so shouldn’t have any problem settling in quickly.
Nedim Skenderevic: A one-time Melbourne Victory academy player, the defender-midfielder lands at Paisley Park after switching from Box Hill United. Has also represented Preston Lions and Dandenong City over the journey. Expected to provide a cool head in the backline.
Aaron O’Driscoll: Definitely one to watch in 2024. O’Driscoll has graduated from the vaunted Southampton and Manchester City youth programs. Captained Southampton at youth and reserve grade level as well as his native Ireland at underage level. The centre back arrives from New Zealand club Christchurch United, having previously played at Shelbourne and Longford Town in the Irish Premier Division.
Nuh Sehavdic: Lands at the Magic via NPL Queensland outfit Peninsula Power but is no stranger to the Victorian competition have previously played for Melbourne Victory NPL, Preston Lions and Dandenong City. A dangerous player in the front third, the club hopes can follow in Cian Cuba’s footsteps.
Ben Ratajczak: Stuck behind Goalkeeper of the Year Javi Lopez, the young goalkeeper trades Lakeside Stadium for Paisley Park. The Western Australian youngster has previously played in the NPL WA with Bayswater. Is a strong addition to the Magic’s renovations under new coach Goran Lozanovski.
Jordan Dellidis: Steps up to the top-flight after three seasons at VPL1 club Melbourne City and an earlier stint at Melbourne Victory. A developing centre back with composure and physicality, which will serve him well against some of the best strikers in the Premier Leagues. Played 23 matches this season, showcasing his durability.
Hayden Browne: The experienced goalkeeper comes across from Heidelberg United. Spent time overseas in Slovakia and Norway before returning home and playing for St Albans and a stint in NPL WA.
Daniel Fabrizio: The experienced recruit played 25 games and scored two goals for St Albans last season and will be a good addition for a younger, new-look Magic squad.
Ismail Haji: Played just the six games for VPL1 club Kingston City last season but has been around top-flight football long enough to make an impact with the Magic.
AVONDALE
Cian Cuba: One of the more intriguing recruiting stories of the pre-season. The talented winger left Altona Magic after a breakout season to join South Melbourne. However, after only a couple of months was released and is now on the books at arch-rival and defending premier and champion Avondale. Amazing coup for the Avengers.
Yusuf Ahmed: The youngster hails from South Australia and arrives at Avengers Park from Salisbury United, which won the SA State League 2 premiership. Ahmed played a key role in the club earning promotion to State League 1 last season.
Kur Kur: The South Sudan international is an attacking midfielder who spent 2023 with Brisbane Roar’s NPL team in NPL Queensland. The 23-year-old has previously played for South Australian power Adelaide City and spent a year at Serbian club Novi Pazar without playing a game.
Mayen Mayen: Returns to Avengers Park after developing in the Western United Academy. The young goalkeeper earnt a call-up to South Sudan’s squad for the Under-20 African Cup of Nations tournament last year but didn’t play a game. Made 16 appearances for United’s NPL team last season in VPL1 and will likely back-up double-winning keeper Tom Manos.
DANDENONG CITY
James Xydias: After a year off the 26-year-old defender returns to the top-flight with City. Last played for Altona Magic in 2022 and was previously at Bentleigh Greens, where he was part of the 2019 NPL Victoria premiership-winning squad.
Tim Atherinos: The young gun steps up to NPL Victoria after coming through the Melbourne Victory system. The forward-midfielder scored five goals in 19 appearances last season to help Victory NPL to win promotion from VPL2.
Danny Kim: A former Australia youth international who made eight A-League appearances for Brisbane Roar. Spent time abroad playing in Singapore before moving to NPL Victoria and representing Bentleigh Greens, South Melbourne and Green Gully.
Kyan Bryant: The 19-year-old has moved south from Sunshine Coast Wanderers in NPL Queensland. An attacking midfielder by trade but can also play up front or on a wing with City hoping he can prove a fresh spark with his pace and technical ability.
Stefan Brecevic: The 21-year-old central defender comes to City after stints at Bentleigh Greens and Bulleen Lions. While still young, Brecevic has valuable experience, which will serve him well as the club steps back up to NPL Victoria.
Valli Cesnik: Famously scored four goals in a game for Port Melbourne last season and finished with seven in 27 appearances. The dangerous forward has previously spent time in Holland at Cambuur and will be one of City’s go-to men for goals in 2024.
Kenny Athiu: The King is moving east. The South Sudan and former Melbourne Victory striker will call Frank Holohan Reserve home in 2024. The imposing forward played 16 games and scored one goal for Heidelberg United last season. Looms as one of the recruits of the season if he can rediscover his goalscoring touch.
Seb Hernando: A shock last-minute addition after being surprisingly let go by South Melbourne. Was a star in Manningham United’s promotion-winning VPL1 season in 2023, winning the club best-and-fairest. Once settled at Frank Holohan looms as a major contributor to City’s ambitions.
Luke Saunders: The young goalkeeper arrives at City from Melbourne City’s academy. Was on the teamsheet just once for City’s NPL team last season and will look to continue his development backing up John Hall.
DANDENONG THUNDER
Ben Djiba: A key member of South Melbourne’s rock-solid defence for several seasons but especially in the past two as the club won a NPL Victoria premiership and made back-to-back grand finals. The 23-year-old steps out of Lakeside Stadium and will take on a new challenge at George Andrews Reserve.
Gavin DiNiese: Comes across from double-winning Avondale, where he played 16 senior games last season. Will look to cement himself as a regular player with the Thunder this year.
Lirim Elmazi: Signing the experienced defender-midfielder is a significant coup for the Thunder. Elmazi was a key player in South Melbourne’s 2022 premiership and back-to-back grand final squads. Will be depended on to lead the club given his experience and standing. Made 26 appearances for Hellas last year, scoring one goal.
Ali Sulemani: The forward returns to George Andrews Reserve after one season with South Melbourne. Scored two goals in 27 appearances for South in 2023 after netting five times in 17 matches in 2022 with the Thunder. Dandenong will be hoping he can increase his output with more opportunity in 2024.
Danny Dixon: Started the 2023 season at Heidelberg United but made the move to Bentleigh mid-season. Played 22 matches in total last season, scoring one goal, but will take his talents to the Thunder this season. Brings a hard edge to midfield and should see plenty action.
Pierce Clark: Moves east after spending the second half of 2023 with Heidelberg United. The former Perth Glory gloveman has also represented NPL Victoria powers South Melbourne and Bentleigh Greens in a distinguished career.
Daniel Alessi: Was selected in the NPL NSW Team of the Year after a super campaign for St George City and makes the move to Victoria this season. The experienced defender is exactly what the Thunder needs after a tumultuous off-season, providing a calm head at the back.
Aaron Evans: The experienced defender has had a long career overseas with stops in Hong Kong, Thailand, Laos, Indonesia and most recently at North East United in India. Looking to make an impact in his first season in Victorian football and should get plenty of opportunity at Thunder.
Jay Romanovski: Rejoins coach Adam Piddick from Port Melbourne. Played 11 NPL matches last season and will look to take more opportunities this season.
Aiden Edwards: Didn’t make an appearance for Oakleigh Cannons last season but the Thunder hopes he can add some experience and class to the new-look team under Adam Piddick.
Wade Dekker: One of the NPL’s most potent strikers with Oakleigh Cannons. Scored eight goals in 23 appearances last season and the Thunder will hope Dekker can continue his goalscoring form at George Andrews Reserve.
Birkan Kirdar: Took time away from the game after 30 A-League matches for Melbourne Victory and makes his return for Dandenong. Could be one of the low-key signings of the season if he can get back to full fitness quickly.
Jordan Smiley: Came through the Central Coast Mariners academy before heading overseas. Spent a couple of years in Iceland, most recently with Keflavík. Returns to Australia with the Thunder and will be looking to showcase his talents with plenty left to give at 24.
Deri Corfe: Was a part of Manchester City’s youth set-up before heading to the USA to play college football. Had a season at New York Red Bulls reserves then moved to Scotland and arrives at George Andrews Reserve from Napier City in New Zealand.
GREEN GULLY
Jae Ciarma: A graduate of Western United and Melbourne City’s academies. The left-back has the pace and attacking mindset to be a dangerous player in Gully’s set-up.
Adisu Bayew: Returns to the Cavaliers after a stint with Western United in the A-League. A dynamic and quick forward, the 22-year-old made his professional debut in 2021 and made 25 appearances in total, scoring two goals.
Dalibor Markovic: The left-back arrives from Preston Lions, where he made 16 appearances and scored one goal. Was previously part of Western United’s A-League championship-winning squad and has experience at both Melbourne Victory and Melbourne City. Still only 22.
Jamie Latham: The Welsh forward jumps across from NPL Victoria rival Moreland City. Was a standout in City’s maiden NPL Victoria campaign last season, which saw the club avoid relegation. Scored four goals and provided three assists in 23 games.
Ashton Ahluwalia: Arrives from Altona Magic where he made 18 appearances last season. Loves to take on his man and look for dangerous passes from midfield. A Western Sydney Wanderers Academy graduate and has also represented NPL NSW power Sydney United.
Jalil Regague: One of the best defenders in the NPL last season with Port Melbourne, Regague’s signature is a significant coup for Gully. Was a regular in the NPL Victoria team of the week, winning more than 84 per cent of his tackles, while also scoring three goals and providing three assists.
Luca Tevere: Enjoyed an outstanding season with Port Melbourne Sharks in 2023, scoring six goals and providing five assists in 27 games. Brings creativity and drive to the Cavaliers front third with his ability to set up or score goals on a weekly basis. Had an elite pass success rate of more than 80 per cent last season. A former Melbourne City youth product.
Lucas Derrick: The former Australia under-17 international goes from the south-east to the western suburbs. Derrick arrives from Bentleigh Greens, where he played 22 games and scored one goal. Was a member of the Greens’ Dockerty Cup winning squad in 2022 and developed in the Melbourne Victory youth system before also representing Northcote City and Heidelberg United.
HEIDELBERG UNITED
Leo Mazis: The former Celtic youth player shifts to Heidelberg after a first NPL Victoria season with Dandenong Thunder. The hard-running winger is capable of creating for his teammates as well as finding the back of the net himself.
Ben Collins: The reliable defender was part of Western United’s A-League championship-winning squad before making the move to Melbourne Knights mid-season last year. Reunites with former Western assistant coach John Anastasiadis at Olympic Village.
Yaren Sozer: The back-up keeper in Central Coast Mariner’s A-League championship-winning squad before heading overseas and joining Gudja United in Malta. Will look to establish himself as the No.1 at Heidelberg and potentially push his A-League credentials.
Asaki Yokokawa: A Japanese youth international, Yokokawa arrives at Olympic Village from Albirex Niigata in Singapore. Looms as one of the club’s most versatile players, which is hugely valuable in today’s game, able to play across the back four or in midfield.
Nick Stefanidakis: Won the Football Northern Territory Player of the Year at just 17 in 2022 and impressed again for Hellenic last season, scoring five goals in 18 appearances. It’s seen him make the move south and join the Warriors.
Ryan Govan: The developing goalkeeper moves south after impressing for NPL Queensland club Redlands last season. Will likely play second fiddle to Sozer to begin but is sure to get his chance at some stage in the season.
Ben Davine: The youngster is looking to make a huge step up after playing predominantly in the under-21s at Bulleen Lions last season. Scored an impressive 24 goals in 27 appearances and also earnt 11 senior matches. Also scored 13 goals in 21 under-21 matches in 2022.
John Apostolopoulos: The defender jumps up to the top-flight after spending 2023 with Northcote City in VPL1. Played 13 senior games last season and still has plenty of development as a 20-year-old.
Nathan Konstandopoulos: Was one of United’s key off-season signings from Melbourne Victory but unfortunately has suffered a season-ending knee injury in pre-season.
HUME CITY
Fletcher McFarlane: Arrives from NPL rival Port Melbourne, where he played 26 matches and scored one goal last season. Adds nicely to Hume’s midfield mix and will look to provide plenty of opportunity to the club’s forwards with his passing.
Aamir Abdallah: Played nine games for Heidelberg United last season, returning from Europe where he won a league title in Estonia with Levadia and also spent time at Parnu Vaprus. Before moving overseas was at Heidelberg and Brunswick City. A quick and dangerous forward, Abdullah will work in nicely with the Hume squad.
Mickel Platt: Came through the ranks at Queens Park Rangers and arrives at Hume City after last playing for Slough in the sixth tier of English football. The forward will look to bring his experience to Hume City and partner up with fellow English import Lloyd Isgrove.
Harry Ascroft: The addition of the Dandenong Thunder captain immediately strengthens City’s backline. Ascroft brings A-League experience with Central Coast Mariners, has represented Australia at under-20 level and played professionally in the Netherlands, Malta and Ireland. Is sure to improve the club on and off the field under coach Cam Watson.
Lloyd Isgrove: A contender for recruit of the off-season. Isgrove is a Welsh international, making his one appearance off the bench against Northern Ireland in 2016. The winger arrives from English minnows Sholing but had previously spent three seasons at Bolton Wanderers, making 53 senior appearances. Came through the elite Southampton youth system and went on to play at the likes of Sheffield Wednesday, Barnsley, Portsmouth and Swindon Town.
Oscar Karlsson: The Australian-Swedish youngster came through the ranks from under-17s at Gefle and made his senior debut in a Svenska Cup match last year. Will look to play his first full season of senior football with Hume City. Only arrived a week before Round 1.
MANNINGHAM UNITED
Nathan Dib: Came through the ranks at Western United and was a member of the club’s inaugural NPL squad. Arrives from Preston Lions and the Blues hope he can be a creative force and well as sound defensively with his pace and creativity.
Abdul Abdella: Comes to Victoria from Western Australia where he spent time at NPL WA clubs Subiaco and Bayswater. The Blues hope he can bring his eye for goal and creativity to ensure the club survives and thrives in its maiden NPL Victoria campaign.
Giannis Georgopoulos: Dominant for Northcote City last season and was rewarded with the club’s best-and-fairest and Player’s Player award. The midfielder scored six goals in 25 appearances and provide the Blues with some much-needed experience and poise as the club steps up to the top-flight for the first time.
Tom Golding: Steps up to top-flight football after playing for Eastern Lions in 2023, scoring three goals in 25 matches. Will look to bring his attacking mindset to the NPL, playing inside or out on a wing.
Marco Tavella: Announced as an energetic and reliable fullback, Tavella will be relied upon to be solid at the back and create width in attack. Steps up to NPL football with Manningham after spending 2023 with VPL1 rival Northcote City.
Robert Harding: Arrives from Altona Magic where he scored three goals in 27 appearances last season. The Blues will be looking for him to add a spark to the club’s forward line with his speed and skill.
Alex Castiello: Strengthens the Blues’ backline considerably. Was a mainstay at the back for Altona Magic last season, playing 25 matches and scoring a goal, to help the club play finals. Will look to keep Manningham’s defence tight and compact against more dangerous attacks.
Rhys Dufton: The young defender captained Melbourne City’s youth team last season and will look to step up to top-flight football with Manningham. Played three senior VPL1 games for City last season and joins his brother Owen at the club.
Chris Theodorakopoulos: The experienced midfielder bolsters Manningham’s engineroom for its maiden top-flight campaign. He arrives at Pettys Reserve after splitting his time between Moreland City and Bentleigh Greens last season, playing 23 games in total and scoring six goals.
Claudio Sikora: Played 22 games for Banyule City last season as the club was relegated from State League 1 North-West. Makes a major step up to NPL with the Blues.
Ali Turgut: Only made the six appearances for North Sunshine in VPL2 last season but will provide crucial depth for Manningham as it makes the step up to the top-flight.
MELBOURNE KNIGHTS
Saïf Eddine Sakhi: Announced himself with two first-half goals in the Knights’ pre-season friendly against O’Connor Knights. The 26-year-old arrives at Knights Stadium from Belgian side La Louvière Centre. The brother of former Melbourne City man Hamza Sakhi.
Tommy Semmy: One of the leading forwards in the NPL last season at Altona Magic. The Papua New Guinea international set up a number of goals for Golden Boot winner Jonas Markovski and scored nine goals himself from 27 matches. Will look to continue his strong form at a Knights team brimming with attacking talent.
Thomas Woerndl: Crosses to Somers Street after captaining Altona Magic last season. Solidifies a Knights backline, which conceded 35 goals last season, second most among top-six clubs. Woerndl played 25 matches last season and only received three yellow cards but also one red.
Ben Carrigan: Captained Bentleigh Greens to relegation last year and crosses town to join the Knights for 2024. Played 25 games last season, scoring one goals and receiving one red card. Will bolster the Knights backline as it looks to become a more stingy defence.
MORELAND CITY
Jose Arancibia: The Chilean forward comes to Australia to continue his football journey, arriving from Second Division club CD Trasandino de Los Andes. Moreland will be looking for the 27-year-old to bring the flair and creativity to the final third to boost an attack that scored the fourth fewest goals in 2023.
Curtis Miley: The 2022 NPL Tasmania Rising Star comes north and lands at Campbell Reserve. The 18-year-old arrives from Clarence Zebras and will be looking to make an impact stepping up to one of the highest levels of football outside the A-League.
Diego Cuba: The younger brother of 2023 breakout star and South Melbourne recruit Cian comes south from Queensland. Represented Eastern Suburbs, playing 22 games and scoring five goals. City will certainly be hoping he can replicate his brother’s success in Victoria.
Eligian Kifle: Steps up to NPL after 16 VPL2 games for North Sunshine last season.
Nuoman Aliy: The defender joins Moreland from VPL2 club North Sunshine. Played 22 games as the Eagles challenged for promotion last season. Capable of establishing himself as a first-team player.
Kasra Karamad: The youngster comes out of the Melbourne City system. Didn’t get much opportunity with City’s VPL1 side but showed off his nose for goals with two in his three games.
Deane Watters: Made 23 appearances for Brunswick Juventus last season but as the Zebras drop back to VPL2, he’ll step up to the top-flight. Adds much-needed depth to Moreland’s squad.
OAKLEIGH CANNONS
Asad Kasumovic: The 21-year-old striker arrives from South Australia where he played for West Adelaide and won a NPL SA championship with Adelaide City in 2021 before joining Adelaide United NPL. Adds another strong finisher to the Cannons attack after scoring 10 goals in 2022 for United.
Moonib Adus: The former Melbourne City youth played one A-League game for Newcastle Jets. He’ll look to bring his speed and evasiveness to Jack Edwards Reserve in 2024.
Noah Holmes: The South Australian came through the ranks at Adelaide Raiders, where he caught the eye of Western United scouts. The defensive midfielder played 25 games for United’s NPL team in VPL1 last season and was included on the bench for the club’s senior Australia Cup campaign.
Ajak Deu: The promising young centre back stepped out of the Western United system mid-season last year to play for St Albans and will call Jack Edwards Reserve home in 2024.
PORT MELBOURNE SHARKS
Georgy Shalamanov-Trenkov: Joins his older brother Iliya at Murphy Reserve. The 19-year-old defensive midfielder is highly rated having come through the ranks at Bulgarian power CSKA Sofia and made his senior debut for Slavia Sofia at just 17. Could be one of the finds of the season if he can adjust to Victorian football.
Amanhom Khamis: An imposing defender who spent last season with Moreland City, playing nine games. Has previously spent time in the youth system at a trio of A-League clubs – Brisbane Roar, Macarthur and Melbourne Victory – and will look to establish himself as a regular senior player at Port.
Eoghan Stokes: An Ireland international at under-16, 17 and 19 level. After coming through the Leeds youth system, the attacking midfielder jumped around Ireland Premier League clubs before moving to New Zealand this year to play for Christchurch United. Scored a staggering 15 goals in 16 games to help United win the Southern League and Chatham Cup.
Jesse Barber: The young striker returns to the Sharks after spending 2023 with Geelong in VPL2, scoring one goal in 10 appearances. Will look to further develop his game at one of the best clubs in the state and make an impact whenever the opportunity presents.
Alec Becvinovski: Jumps across from VPL2 club Melbourne City for the 2024 season. Played 13 matches as City came close to winning promotion. Has the skill and will look to up his game in the state’s top flight.
Andrico Mesourouni: Arrives from NPL2 club Kingston City, where he made 22 appearances and scored three goals this season. Spent time overseas in Spain and Greece before returning to Australia. Will add some spark on the wings for the Sharks.
Daniel Serra: The wing back made a handful of senior appearances for North Geelong last season. Would have got plenty of experience in a Warriors defence that was regularly under pressure this season. Moves to the Sharks looking to take his game to the next level.
Iliya Shalamanov-Trenkov: A massive get for Port Melbourne, both literally and figuratively. The Queenslander stands at 195cm and has come through the ranks of Bulgarian giants CSKA Sofia. Has been in and around Australia’s under-23 set-up.
Lucas Byrns: Was a part of Western United’s NPL squad this season, which went close to securing promotion from NPL2. Bryns made 15 appearances in midfield and will add nicely to the Sharks mix.
Nathaniel Hancock: Signed for South Melbourne this season after returned to Australia after a stint in the UAE. Versatility is his weapon, able to play across the backline or midfield.
Emmanuel Peters (Dandenong City)
SOUTH MELBOURNE
Josh Francou: The versatile defender-midfielder has impressed in pre-season to earn a contract with Hellas. Joins from Melbourne Victory where he played nine VPL2 matches last season. Has the ability to drive forward and create chances for attackers.
Zak Spiteri: The promising young defender arrives after spending 2023 with Port Melbourne. Captained the Sharks’ under-21s to the NPL premiership and championship last season and earned five senior appearances as well. Previously spent time in Melbourne Victory’s youth system.
Emile Peios: The Australia under-23 representative spent 2023 with Melbourne City’s academy in NPL2, making 24 appearances and scoring five goals. The midfielder also spent time at Belgium club St.Truiden’s youth team. Will look to work his way into a starting spot in South’s strong midfield.
Jordon Lampard: The fullback crosses from NPL rival Green Gully, looking to bring his defensive smarts and ability to join the attack to Lakeside Stadium. Scored two goals this season and is durable, making 51 appearances in the past two seasons for the Cavaliers.
Ross Archibald: The experienced defender adds another NPL Victoria heavyweight to his list of clubs having also spent time at Bentleigh Greens, Avondale, Altona Magic and Port Melbourne. Made his A-League debut for Melbourne Heart, replacing Harry Kewell, and also spent a season in Germany at Fortuna Dusseldorf.
Mario Barcia: Despite Bentleigh’s struggles this season, Barcia was a shining light, impressing throughout. With the Greens’ relegation, South has picked up a star midfielder who will slot nicely into the engineroom. The Argentine joins countryman coach Esteban Quintas at Lakeside Stadium and will look to bring some flair and toughness to Hellas’ midfield.
Nahuel Bonada: Another Argentine arrives at Lakeside and adds another dangerous attacking option. Bonada scored six times in 19 matches for Green Gully this season and will look to up that output in 2024 alongside the likes of Harrison Sawyer, Cian Cuba and Max Mikkola.
Harrison Sawyer: Returns to Lakeside Stadium after a stint in Finland with VPS and Indian club Jamshedpur. In his previous stay, Sawyer led South to the 2022 NPL Victoria premiership and won the Golden Boot with 17 goals. In all, he has 25 goals in 42 appearances for the club.
ST ALBANS
Nick Mori: The Saints believe they’ve found a diamond in the rough with Mori. The 19-year-old striker lit up the Bendigo Amateur Soccer League last season, winning the Golden Boot with 25 goals and was named the BASL Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year.
James Riccobene: The experienced defender will look to get on the park on a more regular basis this season after mainly coming off the bench for the Avengers last year.
Scott Bakkor: Has been through a few clubs in the UK and makes the move Down Under from Stalybridge Celtic in England. The experienced forward can play either wing or in the middle, giving his manager great flexibility.
Alan Gerez: A mainstay at Green Gully last season, playing 26 goals and scoring four goals. Will look to bring that class to the Saints and provide some spark in attack.
Jacob Sauverain: Played just the six games for North Geelong last season but crosses to sister club St Albans to remain in the top flight try and prove himself.
Max King: The 22-year-old midfielder links up with the Saints after representing sister Croatian club Coast Coast Knights last season in NPL Queensland. Had a brief stint in Japan before returning to Australia and will look to establish himself as a senior player in 2024.
Josh Divin: The young gun comes out of the Western United system, looking to make a mark at senior level. Divin played 17 games for United’s VPL1 side last season.
Carter Ramsay: Steps up to the top-flight after a brilliant season with Eastern Lions in VPL1. Netted 13 goals to finish fifth in the league. Will hope that form translates to the Saints.
Adam Hodor: Took time off in 2023 but played 23 games and scored a goal in 2022. Will be a welcome return in 2024 as the club looks to avoid another relegation battle.
Marco Bulic: The 21-year-old goalkeeper spent time in Melbourne Victory and Central Coast Mariners’ systems before joining NPL NSW side Sutherland Sharks. Returns to Melbourne with the Saints but will likely have to bide his time behind Jasmin Keranovic.
VPL1
BENTLEIGH GREENS
Anton Kinnander: Was leading the NPL2 goalscoring race with Werribee City before being lured to Melbourne Knights mid-season. Had 11 goals in 18 matches for the Bees but only scored once in 10 appearances for the Knights. The former Sweden youth international will lead the line as Bentleigh attempt to bounce back up to the top-flight.
Kieran Dover: Follows coach David Chick across from Dandenong Thunder where he scored five goals in 21 matches this season. Will add some class to Bentleigh’s midfield.
Luke Pavlou: Only made the eight NPL1 appearances for Dandenong Thunder in 2023 but will hopefully see more time on the park in 2024. David Chick brought him a cross for a reason and he’ll be looking to repay the faith.
Deniz Yildiz: Scored one goal in 12 appearances for Dandenong Thunder and will look to boost his output with Bentleigh both in terms of scoring and appearances.
Jay Davies: The Englishman will be hoping to cement his spot in central midfield after only the seven games in 2023 for Dandenong Thunder. Came through at Peterborough and Woking and has previous NPL experience at Green Gully.
Andy Withers: The evergreen goalkeeper will take the No.1 job at Kingston Heath after an impressive 2023 that saw Port Melbourne concede just 34 goals – fourth fewest in NPL1. Will be a much needed general in defence.
Perry Lambropoulos: After 35 games for South Melbourne in the past two seasons, the experienced defender joins Bentleigh. The Greens will certainly hope he can bring the experience and professionalism instilled in him at Lakeside to Kingston Heath.
Riki Foster-Hosoai: Enjoyed an outstanding season with Bulleen Lions last season. The big-bodied striker scored 11 goals in 24 appearances and will hope to bring that form across to Bentleigh.
Gevaro Nepomuceno: Impressed with Melbourne Knights last season with five goals in 23 matches. Loves bursting down the wing and delivering a cross or sneaking inside and having a crack himself. A classy addition for Bentleigh as it attempts to jump back up to NPL.
Shaun Timmins: Crosses from St Albans, where he played 23 matches last season. Brings plenty of experience having started out as an Irish youth international before moving Down Under in 2011. It led to a season with Wellington Phoenix before returning to NPL football. Has spent time at Green Gully, South Melbourne, Hume City, Melbourne Knights, Brunswick Juventus and Dandenong City.
Ben Bowler: A mainstay at Hume City last season, making 23 appearances, as one of the club’s most dependable players. Has been lured cross town to Bentleigh, which will hope he can be just as effective at VPL1 level.
Geoffy Lino: Follows coach David Chick across from Dandenong Thunder. The exciting young forward scored five goals in 23 matches last season and Chick will be looking for a similar output, if not a little more this season.
James Doyle: Snapped up after spending 2023 with Green Gully, playing 22 games. Scored one goal, showing his ability to hit the scoreboard when given the opportunity.
Ryan Losty: Stepped away from the game last season after a couple of years with Oakleigh Cannons. Returns with Bentleigh and will provide much-needed depth for the Greens as they look to bounce back from relegation.
Scott Lochead: Was one of Dandenong Thunder’s best last season with three goals in 22 appearances. Follows David Chick across to Kingston Heath and the manager will be hoping for more of the same in 2024.
BRUNSWICK CITY
Dylan Allshorn: The Welshman was a Wrexham junior and at 22 has made the move down under. Arrives at Brunswick from Welsh club Colwyn Bay, where he won a league and league cup in the Welsh North league.
Gerrie Syliados: Started out at Brunswick as a second generation player. Returns to the club after a season at Heidelberg Eagles.
Sione Fa’apoi: The New Zealand and Tonga native will provide City with a strong presence in defence. A centre-back with speed and passing, according to the club. Makes his Australian football debut.
Kosta Emmanuel: Played a part as Brunswick’s VPL1 premiership charge was wreaked by COVID. Returns to the club in 2024 after a stint with South Melbourne, where he broke through for seven senior matches. Adds pace and a goalscoring ability.
Yianni Kourelis: The promising full-back jumps across from VPL1 rival Kingston City. Bolsters City defence as he looks to cement himself as a senior player.
Nick Mooney: The Queenslander, who has experience at NPL clubs FNQ Heat and Olympic. Will fight for the No.1 with Nikola Kostadinoski.
Byron Figueroa: A major coup for the Spartans, securing the exciting midfield-forward from Moreland City. Brings versatility and a nose for goal after 19 matches in the top-flight last season.
Hamish Anderson: The South Australia native has had stints at Werribee City and Box Hill United but will call Dunstan Reserve home in 2024. The big striker made 13 appearances for the Bees last season but only scored one goal. Will look to improve his output in 2024.
Ned McCarthy: A key part of Manningham United’s promotion-winning squad last season, playing 22 matches and scoring one goal. Will bring versatility to the Spartans’ line-up.
BULLEEN LIONS
James Siekris: The young goalkeeper crosses to Bulleen from Melbourne Victory’s NPL team, where he made 12 appearances last season. Helped the club earn promotion to VPL1, finishing second last season. Will look to fill the shoes of departed Goalkeeper of the Year Choi Won-Suk.
Jaime Wilson: The Scottish striker arrives after bouncing around clubs in recent seasons, playing for both Heidelberg United and Kingston City last season. Previously played for Northcote City with stints at Scottish clubs Dumbarton, Falkirk and Elgin City in between.
Marcus Dimanche: Crosses from VPL1 rival Preston Lions, where he played 18 matches last season. The Mauritius international will be looking to make an immediate impact for his new club in 2024 and has impressed in pre-season practice matches.
Mark Kurita: The Japanese forward will boost the Lions goalscoring power after bagging seven goals in 26 appearances for VPL1 rival Werribee City last season. Brings plenty of experience and goalscoring nous.
Sean Cooper: The former New Zealand under-23 representative will strengthen the Bulleen defence. While still young, Cooper has plenty of experience, winning a gold medal at the 2019 Pacific Games and at just 17 was a member of Auckland City’s 2016 Club World Cup squad. Arrives at the Veneto Club after two seasons with Dunedin City.
CAROLINE SPRINGS GEORGE CROSS
Russell Currie: Last season’s joint VPL2 golden boot winner swaps Shepparton for Caroline Springs. Currie scored 16 goals for Goulburn Valley Suns last season and played a key role in the club’s fairytale run to the Australia Cup national stage.
Yug Gandhi: A key player for Northcote City last season as the club reached the Australia Cup Round of 32. Played 17 VPL1 matches and scored one goal and will add important depth to the Georgie squad.
Nick Georgopoulos: Four goals in 22 appearances made Georgopoulos one of Pascoe Vale’s best last year in a relegation season. Remains at the VPL1 level with the incoming Caroline Springs.
Nikola Jurkovic: The strong defender is a big get for the Georgies as they step up to VPL1 level. Jurkovic played 20 matches for North Geelong Warriors in the top-flight last season and scored one goal. Brings a wealth of experience.
Liam O’Connell: One of Werribee City’s leading lights last season with 1 goal in 26 matches. Will face the Bees this season when he dons the red and white stripes.
Joseph Adoo-Peters: A mainstay of the Goulburn Valley Suns line-up last season, playing 19 games. The Englishman moves down to Melbourne to step up to VPL1 and link up with the Georgies and teammate Russell Currie.
Trevor Ssemekula: A consistent presence at NPL level with Melbourne Knights last season. Played 26 matches and scored one goal and will be looking to boost the latter this season.
Nicke Sette: Jumps across from now VPL1 rival Northcote City. Made 18 appearances and scored four goals for Hercules last season and will hope to establish himself at City Vista.
Ko Sawada: Was one of Nunawading City’s best last season, scoring seven goals in 21 matches. Jumps up from VPL2 to VPL1 in 2024 and will hope to continue that strong form this season.
Brandon Lundy: Will be one of the most experienced players in VPL2, let alone Caroline Springs’ ranks. Has been a key player for Avondale and Oakleigh Cannons in the past few years and a great get for the Georgies with his experience and class.
Anthony Trajkoski: Despite Geelong’s difficulties and eventual VPL2 relegation, Trajkoski enjoyed a productive 2023. The forward scored seven goals in 17 appearances and will step up a level with Caroline Springs.
Joshua Knight: Bagged eight goals in 24 appearances for Northcote City last season to be one of the competition’s leading forwards. Adds another weapon to the George Cross attack.
Josh Calabria: A key member of Westgate’s squad, which finished third in State League 1, narrowing missing out on promotion. Played 21 matches and scored one goal.
EASTERN LIONS
Angus Lambie: The Lions junior returns to Gardiner’s Creek Reserve ahead spending 2023 with VPL2 club Box Hill United. The young goalkeeper will look to take another step up in his game and establish himself as the No.1 man between the sticks.
Jack Pope: The young talent returns to the Lions after two seasons with Melbourne Victory’s youth system. Given his development and experience with Victory, he looks to slot in as one of the club’s most important players this season.
Nathan Stamatelos: Also rejoining the Lions after three years at Victory. Will look to continue his development and establish himself as a key player at Gardiner Reserve.
Davut Tahir: Follows Lions coach Chris Greechen from Albion Rovers and will look to again establish himself as one of the manager’s most dependable players. The Lions hope Tahir can provide leadership both on and off the park.
DeAndre Vollenhoven: The South African-born midfielder can play on either wing. Brings plenty of pace and creativity to the Lions’ squad. joining the club. Comes to Australia via New Zealand, where he played for Auckland United last season.
Malle Samson: Spent time at Dandenong City but joins Eastern from State League 2 outfit Bentleigh Cobras. Adds much-needed depth in the forward line.
Tobi Pellio: A significant coup for Eastern with the former German under-20 international signing on. Bring a wealth of experience from Europe having come through the ranks at Bochum. Arrives in Australia via the USA, where he last played for Nova Southeastern Sharks in Florida.
Jorge Akers: A New Zealand international at under-19 and 23 level. A classy forward and, according to the club, a lethal finisher. Akers makes the move to Australia from Waterside Karori.
George Stavridis: Has stops at Northcote City, Bulleen Lions and Kingston City and brings considerable experience to the Lions’ squad. Made 15 appearances and scored one goal for Kingston last season.
KINGSTON CITY
Cooper Legrand: The Mauritius international returns to The Grange after a season with Dandenong City, playing 16 matches and winning the NPL2 championship. Played 24 games the year before as City were relegated.
Jono Stiliadis: Steps up to VPL1 from State League 2 club Westvale Olympic. Made 13 appearances last season and will add much-needed depth to the Kingston squad, bringing an ability to win the ball in midfield and then distribute.
Sam Wong: The Queenslander moves south from Logan Lightning. Tough in the tackle and will look to continue his form in Victoria after 19 matches last season.
Kento Mori: The Japanese attacker is looking to make a splash in Victoria and Kingston is the lucky club to secure his service. According to the club, Mori “brings experience, energy and pace to our line-up”.
Nikola Stijacic: Steps up to VPL1 from State League 1 club Westgate, where he was the club’s leading goalscorer last season with nine goals in 10 matches. Obviously capable of finishing in front of net and Kingston will be hoping he can replicate last season’s form in 2024.
Simo Jovanović: The former City skipper returns to the Grange, where he was part of the club’s 2016 VPL1 championship-winning squad. Played 18 goals and scored six goals for Old Scotch in State League 1 South-East last season.
LANGWARRIN
Rahul and Barath Suresh: The brothers both sign on from German club Niendorfer and are both Sri Lankan internationals. Rahul will play on the wing, while Barath is more at home in the middle of the park.
Dante Avian: Jumps across from VPL1 rival Brunswick City, where he made 12 appearances last season. The winger came through the Melbourne City youth system.
Allen Dzemidzic: Banged in the goals last season for Oakleigh’s under-21 side, winning the league golden boot with 19 goals. Returns to Langwarrin in 2024 where he is a club junior and won the VPL1 under-21 golden boot with the Lions in 2022. The Lions will hope his underage scoring translates to senior level.
Ryo Takahashi: The Japanese defender arrives from Singapore Premier League champions Albirex Niigata. Spent time at FC Tokyo before moving overseas. Brings considerable experience, pace and technique to Lawton Reserve.
Joe O’Brien: The West Australian native moves east for 2024 after being coached by former Langwarrin player John Baird. The 26-year-old striker started at Mandurah City as a junior and scored more than 100 goals for the club. Won a State League title with the club and was the league golden boot winner last season.
Griffin Bambach: The big goalkeeper arrives from NPL Queensland club Sunshine Coast Wanderers. The experienced gloveman will likely start out as back-up for James Burgess.
Luke Adams: Won five international caps for New Zealand, played A-League with Wellington Phoenix and has stints at NPL powers South Melbourne and Green Gully. The defender brings unparalleled experience to the Lions line-up after playing 26 matches and scoring one goal for Dandenong Thunder last season.

Ben Dunbar: Just 17 but looking to further his development at City after starting out at Central Coast Mariners. Has previously been part of under-16 national talent identification camps.
Alessandro Lopane: Came through the ranks at Western Sydney Wanderers before joining City. Has international caps for Australia at under-16, 20 and 23 level. Sure to be a key player at NPL level.

Luka Kolic: Had a breakout season with Melbourne Knights last year, scoring five goals, and will look to press his claims for an A-League berth at Melbourne Victory’s NPL side.
Will McIntosh: The New South Welshman was at Dunbar Rovers before heading overseas for a stint in Germany.
NORTHCOTE CITY
Joseph Tweats: The English attacking midfielder comes across from Western Australia having played for NPL WA club Sorrento last year. According to the club announcement, he played junior football in England and Spain before moving to Australia. Has spent time in Perth Glory’s NPL team and Floreat Athena.
Josh Wilkins: The former Heidelberg United championship winner crosses to Northcote from Port Melbourne. Played only the three games last season but City hopes he can re-establish himself as one of the premier players in the competition.
Michael Boffey: The defender is coming off injury that saw him miss most of the 2023 season. Made eight appearances for Dandenong Thunder before going down and has also spent time overseas with Dubai City. Now back to full fitness and City expects he will provide a tough and physical presence.
Alun Webb: A huge coup for Hercules, luring the South Melbourne premiership player to John Cain Reserve. Webb made 22 appearances and scored four goals for Hellas last season, helping the club make back-to-back grand finals. Brings invaluable experience and goalscoring ability.
David Mwarabu: The defensive midfield comes on board from Ballarat City after it was relegated from VPL2 last season. Will add toughness and critical depth to the City midfield.
Michael Domfeh: The 2019 NPL WA Golden Boot and 2020 NPL WA championship winner significantly boosts Hercules’ firepower for the 2024 season. Arrives from Western Australian club Inglewood. The club hopes he and star forward Trent Skapetis can become an unstoppage one-two combination.
Nicholas Minas: The 22-year-old goalkeeper crosses from VPL1 rival Kingston City and will likely back-up incumbent Brandon Cuminao.
Trent Skapetis: The prolific forward joins Hercules from NPL2 rival Kingston City where he scored 34 goals in 48 games. Perhaps none as famous as the long-range thunderbolt against South Melbourne in the Australia Cup, the first of two goals as Kingston knocked over the NPL heavyweight. Finished the 2023 season with 11 goals in 19 NPL2 matches.
Matthew Loutrakis: The midfielder also crosses from Kingston City, where we played 18 matches this season. Strong on the ball, Loutrakis will add some toughness to the City engineroom. Was previously listed at South Melbourne where he was a part of Hellas’ 2022 premiership-winning squad.
Filimon Asefa: A young defender who comes east from NPL SA club Adelaide Comets. Will look to make his mark in VPL1 with Northcote.
Connor Mynott-Smith: Scored a crazy six goals in five matches for Monaro Panthers in NPL ACT last season. City would be rapt if he can replicate that scoring form this season.
Tyler Vecchio: A coup for Northcote, securing Vecchio from Green Gully. The midfielder played 16 matches and scored three goals in the top-flight last season.
Jet Fittolani: The exciting youngster will look to establish himself as a senior player having graduated for the Melbourne City academy. Played one game and scored one goal for Victory’s under-21s last season.
Yianni Panakos: The young forward signs on from St Albans, where he played eight senior matches last season. Can play anywhere across the attacking third. A South Melbourne junior who featured in the FFA Cup Round of 32 match against Melbourne City before moving to Western United’s academy.
NORTH GEELONG WARRIORS
Anthony Leban: The talented youngster returns to Elcho Park after a stint in Croatia with NK Hrvace and NK Urania Baska Voda. Left the Warriors in 2018 to join Melbourne Victory and is now back to help the club bounce back after relegation. The midfielder will be a considerable boost to the club’s hopes of premiership contention.
Sergio Escudero: A Spaniard by birth but a naturalised Japanese under-23 international. Has made stops in Japan, Korea, China, Thailand and El Salvador before arriving in Australia. Joins North Geelong from Banyule City, where he scored six goals in 14 matches. Sure to bring a unique international style to Elcho Park.
Shun Nakamura: The Japanese defender arrives from State League club Whittlesea Rangers, where he played 22 matches. Brings experience and poise to the Warriors squad.
Salou Jallow: The Northern Ireland and Gambia winger comes Down Under from Ards FC.
Conor Reddan: Steps up to VPL1 football after spending 2023 with Geelong Rangers. Played 20 matches and scored two goals at State League 2 level last season and will bring much-needed depth to the Warriors squad.
PRESTON LIONS
Sayed Fatemi: Born in Afghanistan and spent time in Iran before moving to Australia. Came through the ranks at Dandenong City and then Kingston City, scoring seven goals in 22 appearances last year, to earn an international call-up. Made his Afghanistan debut against Qatar in November.
Will Baynham: Has an eye-catching resume having spent time in Bournemouth’s youth system before moving to the US and playing NCAA Division 1 for the University of California Santa Barbara. The striker then moved to Scotland were he spent three seasons with Glasgow club Queen’s Park, helping the club earn back-to-back promotions. Joins Preston after a season back in the US with third-tier club Lexington.
Josh Tollervey: Moved from England to New Zealand as a teenager, joining Wellington Phoenix’s youth system. The 20-year-old has been a part of the Phoenix reserves in recent seasons and on the fringes of the first team but makes the jump to Australia and Preston for 2024.
Matthew Whelan: The Irish striker has spent the past few years playing for a variety of clubs in the USA, most recently Davenport Panthers. Now begins his Australian football journey with Preston, looking to make a mark in the VPL1.
Wesley Jobello: The Martinique international arrives with a stacked resume. The midfielder spent time in Marseille’s youth system and made one senior appearance for the Ligue 1 power. Then made stops at Clermont, Coventry City – winning the League One title – among several clubs and arrives in Australia having last played for Romanian outfit Arges Pitesti. Brings almost unrivalled experience at the level and will be a significant factor in Preston’s midfield.
Chok Dau: The reigning NPL WA Player of the Year and South Sudan international looms as one of the players to watch in VPL1 this season. The striker helped Perth RedStar claim the NPL WA title too. Has two international caps for South Sudan and has overseas experience having represented Czechia club Vysočina Jihlava. Will be giving opposition defenders plenty to think about in 2024.
Aaron Anderson: The centre-back came through Melbourne Victory’s youth team and made his senior debut in the AFC Champions League against Daegu in 2019. Made 14 appearances for Victory before being released and joining Altona Magic last year. Anderson played 16 matches for the Magic in 2023 but will now bolster the Lions backline.
Brandon Lauton: Came through the Melbourne Victory youth system before joining the big boys and playing 24 A-League matches from 2019 to 2021. After being released the midfielder joined Hume City and played 19 games, scoring four goals, last season. Will be a significant boost to the Lions’ midfield.
Jakob Cresnar: A Newcastle Jets junior before moving to the Central Coast Mariners Academy, where he earnt a professional contract. The young defender arrives at Preston after time with NPL NSW power Sydney Olympic where he played 33 matches and scored three goals
Marcus Schroen: A massive coup for the Lions, securing the South Melbourne great. Will instantly make Preston’s midfield one of the best in the VPL. Spent time in the Den Bosch youth system in the Netherlands before returning home to Australia with Melbourne City, Dandenong Thunder and Hume City. Won a Dockerty Cup at Hume and reached the Australia Cup semi-final before returning to South, his junior club. Went on to win a NPL Victoria championship, earning the Jimmy Rooney Medal, and won a Hellas best-and-fairest.
Luc Jeggo: A coup to lure the gun midfielder out of Green Gully where the Jeggo name is legendary. After coming through the Melbourne Victory youth system he had stops in Norway and the Faroe Islands before returning to Australia. career. Jeggo scored three goals in 19 appearances for the Cavaliers this season.
Bon Scott: The veteran goalkeeper has a sparkling resume with A-League stops at Newcastle Jets and Brisbane Roar, backstopping Brisbane Strikers to a Australia Cup semi-final in 2019 and earning NPL Queensland Goalkeeper of the Year honours. Lured south by Avondale before moving to Bentleigh Greens this year.
Adrian Valenti: A regular in Australia’s national underage squads, representing the country at under-17 and 20 level. Loves getting up and down the left side as either a full-back or winger. Won a National Youth League title with Western Sydney Wanderers. Looms as potentially one of the best recruits at VPL1 level for 2024.
Alec Mills: Brings A-League experience after spending time at Melbourne City and Brisbane Roar. A commanding central defender capable of reading the playing and then turning defence into attack with a pin-point pass.
Domenic Folino: Comes out of the Melbourne City Academy to boost the Lions defence. Appeared in all 24 VPL1 matches for City this season and scored two goals. A strong defender who can clearly get forward and get on the end of it in dangerous positions.
Luke Oresti: A graduate of the Melbourne City Academy but was limited to just seven games and one goal this season, leading to a fresh start. The attacking midfielder will look to bring his best to Preston, an ability to score and create.
Giorgio Serdenes: Another Melbourne City Academy product. Still only 19 and with his best football ahead of him, the Lions will hope he can find his scoring touch after three goals in 2023. Shows some grit too, with an ability to tackle and win the ball back.
William Sparrow: The young goalkeeper comes out of Melbourne City’s acamdey. Will look to continue his development under Louis Acevski and support Bon Scott.
Dean Larson: A member of Central Coast Mariners’ A-League championship-winning squad. The 21-year-old central defender moves to Melbourne looking to be a key part in Preston’s VPL1 campaign and then move into the National Second Division.

Christian Naveen: The 18-year-old winger is a Pascoe Vale junior and was picked up by Melbourne City before moving overseas. Had a stint in Austria and last played for 1860 Munich’s under-19s.
Noah Spaseski: Switches Melbourne Victory for Western United. The young forward played a key role in Victory’s VPL2 promotion-winning campaign last season, scoring five goals in 20 appearances and will look to continue his development at United.
Abel Walatee: Started out at Western United before moving to Denmark and joining Akademisk Boldklub Gladsaxe. The 20-year-old winger will look to get more game time back in Australia.
WERRIBEE CITY
Massimiliano Sampaolesi: The Italian journeyman has played across Serie B or D with the likes of Castelfidardo, Camerano, Biagio Nazzaro, Alessandria Forlì, Sporting Terni and Ancona. Capable of playing any position in midfield and sure to have a big impact on and off the field at Werribee.
Tomoya Uemura: Steps up to VPL1 from State League outfit Keilor Park. A no-nonsense defender who is expected to be a key player in City’s revamps backline
Ahmed Iedom: Steps out of the Western United acamdey and into senior football at Werribee City. The promising midfielder is sure to bring spark and x-factor to the Bees squad after 14 goals in 25 appearances for Western’s under-21s last season.
Ali Dulleh: Has represented some of the biggest NPL clubs in NSW and Tasmania, having suited up at Sydney Olympic, Parramatta and Davenport City. Was part of Devonport’s premiership winning squad last season and helped the club reach the Australia Cup Round of 32.
Dante Siccita: A famous Bees name returns. Siccata’s grandfather was Werribee City president in the 1980s. The young talent graduated from the Melbourne City system after playing four under-23 VPL1 matches last season and nine at under-21 level.
Brad Murray: The returning club favourite steps straight into a vice-captaincy role. Played 12 games at VPL1 rival Pascoe Vale last season and will bolster the Bees midfield brigade this season.
Diego Miranda: Comes across from relegated VPL1 rival Pascoe Vale, where he played 18 matches last season. Steady at the back but loves nothing more than bursting forward to set up an attack.
Misha Marson: Spent time in the USA, playing in the National Independent Soccer Association before returning to Australia with Gold Coast United. Now arrives at Werribee City looking to compete for the No.1 spot in goals.
Ibby Mohamed: The former Bees junior returns to the club after playing NPL with North Geelong last season. Made 17 appearances for the Warriors last season but takes his talents to City where he’ll slot in nicely with his experience.
Alexander Hatzoglou: Stepped up from State League 2 outfit Western Suburbs to test himself at VPL1 level. A central defender who will add some much-needed depth to the Bees squad.
Michael Eager: The New Zealander is a great of Victorian football having captained Northcote City and South Melbourne to silverware on several occasions. Brings his immense experience and knowledge to a new-look Werribee City in a significant coup for the club.
Jack Hindle: The Englishman arrives with experience at the likes of Barrow, Colwyn Bay, Gateshead and Malaysian club Kelantan Matlock Town. Most recently, the striker played in NPL Queensland with Peninsula Power.
Milos Marinkovic: Young but with plenty of experience already having come through at NPL premier and champion Avondale and Melbourne City. Looking to establish himself as a senior player at the Hive.
Michael Sdregas: Was part of the Port Melbourne Sharks under-21 team last season that claimed the NPL premiership. The attacking midfield-forward will now look to make his mark at senior level with Werribee.
Nick Eres: The 2016 Goalkeeper of the Year at Heidelberg United arrives at City via Pascoe Vale. Brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the club and is always difficult to beat in between the sticks.
Ismael Mohamed: Swaps the northern suburbs for Melbourne’s west, making the move up from State League football with Banyule. The midfielder will add some much-needed depth to the Bees squad.
Peter Giorges: Looking for senior football after youth football at Avondale and in the US college system. Brings versatility to the City squad.
Steve Razov: Makes the move from State League club Strathmore, having previously played top-flight football at St Albans. Brings NPL experience and defensive mindset to City’s line-up.
Abias Bukuru: Graduated from the Perth Glory system before moving east. Made 21 VPL2 appearances for Geelong last season and will step up to VPL1 with Werribee.
Thomas Biss: The New Zealand under-20 international shifts across from VPL1 rival Brunswick City. An inaugural member of Wellington Phoenix’s academy and made one A-League appearance, underlining his class. Sure to be a key player in Werribee’s bid to jump up the VPL1 ladder this season.
William Nuttell: Has had stints at Brunswick Juventus, Melbourne City’s youth system, Altona Magic and Hoppers Crossing, as well as Coyotes FC in the USA. Brings plenty of experience and knowledge to a new-look City line-up.
Tom Magarelli: The son of a gun will call Werribee City home in 2024. Magarelli is the son of club legend Bill. Spent time at Avondale before moving to Strathmore in the State Leagues and will be looking to do the family proud this season.
VPL2
ALTONA CITY
Max Bardsley-Rowe: The Englishman arrives from Stockport Town having had previous stints at Macclesfield and Atherton Collieries. Can play up and down the right side of the pitch and will inject some pace and creativity to the City squad.
Breckan Baker: Moves east from NPL WA club Cockburn City. The youngster earnt a call up for Western Australia last season in a pre-season match against Perth Glory, alongside Northcote City recruit Michael Domfeh.
Peter Lay: Played five games in Caroline Springs George Cross’ premiership-winning squad last season. Remains at VPL2 level with newcomers Altona and will bring some much-needed experience to the squad.
Bailey Ratcliff: Played nine games for Northcote City at VPL1 level last season and will look to help City step up to and stay in VPL2 in 2024.
Aisen Ishak: Scored two goals in 14 matches for Preston Lions last season but has been squeezed out over summer. Arrives at Altona City with vital experience and ability to find the back of the net.
BEAUMARIS
Aaron Fabris: A good acquisition for the Sharks after 20 appearances for Eastern Lions last season. The right-back will look to establish himself as a regular this season.
Patrick Bayne: Comes across from Bentleigh Greens, where he played four matches last season, hoping to get more regular game time this season.
Adam Hester: After a solid 2023 with Mornington in State League 1 – scoring four goals in 19 matches – Hester steps up a level with Beaumaris. The club will hope he can continue to develop and improve his output this season.
Sean Grella: Made his NPL debut for Bentleigh Greens last season but featured mainly at under-21 level. Is looking to step up to regular senior football this season.
Joshua Jackson: Just the two senior games for Bentleigh Greens last season and will look to further his development at Beaumaris.
Gavin O’Reilly: Jumps across to the Sharks from local rival Bentleigh Greens. Played eight NPL matches last season but will hope to be a more regular player this season.
Kazuki Okada: Shifts from VPL2 rival Nunawading City. Played 15 games last season and the Sharks will be looking to him for a big season.
Daniel Brooks: A mainstay at Mornington, featuring 21 times in each of the past two seasons. Will hope to bring that consistency up to VPL2 level.
Matthew Ferreira-Hughes: Only played the nine State League 1 games for Springvale White Eagles last season.
Tom Richards: The 24-year-old Englishman comes to Australia after last playing for Yate Town in the Southern League Division One South. Came through the ranks at Bristol and will look to make an impact Down Under.
Riley Casewll: The New Zealand native arrives in Victoria after last playing National League South for Nomads United.
BOROONDARA-CAREY EAGLES
Alexandre Martin: Just the nine State League 1 games for Upfield last season. Looking to step up a level in 2024.
Evan Panagopoulos: Stepping back after 14 NPL matches for Moreland City last season. Will bring much-needed top-flight experience to the Eagles’ line-up and bring a calm head.
Kyoungjin Jeong: A mainstay with VPL1 club Langwarrin last season and the Eagles will be hoping he can be a key player in its promotion hopes this season.
Marcus Watson: A member of Chisholm United’s State League 3 premiership squad last season. Played eight senior matches and will look to step up several levels to VPL2 this season with the Eagles.
Yudai Kumasaka: A key player in Altona City’s State League 1 premiership last season, playing 20 games. Steps up to VPL2 but not with City, instead, new rivals Boroondara-Carey.
BOX HILL UNITED
Taofiq Olomowewe: The 27-year-old English journeyman arrives from Potters Bar Town. Has played for 14 odd clubs in the UK after coming through the ranks at Burnley. Now arrives looking to make his mark in Australia.
Ryo Okamoto: The 27-year-old defender arrives from Japanese club Lagend Shiga. Has played for several clubs in his homeland and will look to bring that experience to Pythagoras. Has plenty of pace and creativity down the right wing.
Ruben Sanchez Marcano: The Spaniard moved to Australia to join NPL NSW outfit Sydney Olympic and now moves down to Victoria for Box Hill United. Played for nine years in his native land and is sure to be one of United’s key players.
Yianni Toumanidis: Made 10 appearances for Malvern City last season as the club finished runner-up in State League 1, just missing out on promotion. However, Toumanidis will look to make the step up to VPL2 with Box Hill.
Sam Maramis: Scored two goals in 11 appearances but couldn’t help Banyule City avoid relegation for State League 1. Comes down the road to Box Hill hoping to take his game to a new level.
Rhys Jones: Two goals and 20 matches made Jones one of Collingwood City’s key players last season but he’ll look to take his game to another level in VPL2.
Ethan Yokarinis (Heidelberg United)
Luke Del Vecchio: The goalkeeper arrives in Victoria after one season with UNSW in Football NSW League One. Will look to compete for the No.1 jersey.
Anthony Rizk: A regular at VPL1 level last season with Kingston City and Pythagoras will be looking to him to be a key player this season.
Justin Micallef: Split his time between Altona Magic and St Albans Saints at NPL level this season but steps back to VPL2 looking for more consistency. Scored two goals in 23 appearances between the two clubs last year.
BRUNSWICK JUVENTUS
Joshua Lim: A former South Korea youth international. The defender has considerable experience in Western Australia and Queensland’s top-flight with the likes of Inglewood United, Gewlup Croatia and Lions FC. Represented Pascoe Vale last season in VPL1 and will look to help Brunswick Juventus bounce back up this season.
Angel Barreto: Has experience at heavyweight clubs Hakoah FC in NSW and NPL Victoria’s South Melbourne. Scored 10 goals in 23 matches for Hellas under-21s last season and will bolster Juventus’ midfield nicely with his passing ability and eye for goal.
Choi Won-Suk: Despite suffering relegation, Juventus conceded the fourth fewest goals in NPL2 this season and only gets stronger in goals with the addition of the reigning NPL2 Goalkeeper of the Year. Choi switches from Bulleen Lions – who conceded the fifth most goals – and figures to be one of the best shot-stoppers in the competition.
Matt Lazarides: A stalwart at NPL1 club Hume City, Lazarides’ signing is a significant coup for Brunswick. The left back will look to keep things tight at the back and get forward when possible to whip in crosses from wide. A Dockerty Cup winner with Hume.
Steve Sokol: Crosses from NPL2 club Northcote City where he scored six goals in 21 appearances this season. A former Melbourne Knights player and Golden Boot winner in NPL WA, Sokol will add a much-needed boost to a Zebras’ attack which scored the fewest goals in the competition in 2023.
Ayrton Redmore: The Aussie defender has been playing in the USA for the past seven years. The 24-year-old was on the books at Jacksonville Armada in the third tier of Major League Soccer and also played college football for LSU Shreveport and Purdue.
Terence Carter: The Englishmen spent time in the USA before making the move to Australia. Has experience at the likes of Adelaide City, Preston Lions and was with Pascoe Vale in 2023. He scored four times in 17 appearances for the Rams.
Max Batchelor: Arrives from NPL2 club Bulleen Lions where he scored four goals in 23 matches this season. Adds another option to Brunswick’s attack with his ability to finish or create for his teammates.
Joshua Urbina: A graduate of the Melbourne Victory Academy, Urbina will add a threat to the Juventus forwardline with his pace and skill. Arrives from Box Hill United, where he made 11 appearances this season, and has previous experience at Preston Lions and Dandenong City.
Nicolas Gonzalez: Juventus further bolsters its attack with the addition of Gonzalez, a Melbourne City Academy graduate. Made 12 appearances for Bulleen Lions in NPL2 this year and has previously featured for Brunswick City and Caroline Springs George Cross.
Mitchell Graham: Capable of playing across the backline, Graham is a graduate of the Melbourne City Academy. The defender made 16 appearances for Green Gully in NPL1 this season and will add nicely to the Zebras’ mix.
Matt Cundari: Played 17 games for Preston Lions in 2022 but didn’t take the field this year. Arrives with plenty of experience having been a key part of St Albans’ side for several seasons. Brings a wealth of leadership and experience to the midfield.
Lucas Vas: Arrives from neighbouring rivals Brunswick City and adds further depth to the Zebras’ attack with his versatility and creativity.
Stefan Ristic: Scored four goals in 26 appearances this season for Bulleen Lions. The Melbourne Victory Academy graduate has also spent time at Altona Magic and will nicely to Brunswick’s midfield mix.
Phill Petreski: Played almost every game this season for NPL2 club Kingston City and Juventus hopes he can bring the same durability and consistency to its line-up. Has previously played for Bulleen Lions, Northcote City and Melbourne City NPL. Adds leadership and experience to the midfield.
DOVETON
Nicholas Anastasiadis: Looking to step up to senior football after a solid season with Oakleigh Cannons’ under-21s in 2023. Scored two goals in 18 appearances and will look to bring that form to the Doves.
Ellis Davies: After 14 State League 1 matches for Geelong-based Corio last season, Davies crosses the bay to join Doveton. Will be looking to establish himself in senior football at the club.
Nathan Edwards: The Kiwi midfielder arrives in Australia having last played for Northern Rovers in his homeland. Doveton will be looking for him to make an impact.
Andres Jerez: Stepping up to VPL2 from State League 2 club Doncaster Rovers.
John Kuol: A member of Dandenong City’s VPL1 premiership-winning squad, playing 17 matches. Will look to bring that winning mentality to Doveton as the club looks to climb the ladder in 2024.
Jedidiah MacCartney: Unable to crack a senior appearance at Northcote City last season, making 15 under-21 appearances. Hoping to establish himself as a senior player this season.
Aguer Manyiel: Had a good season, scoring three goals in 21 matches, as Brimbank Stallions made a promotion challenge in State League.
Zac Postregna: Makes the move to senior football after a big season with Dandenong City under-21s last year. Scored five goals in 26 matches and will be looking to bring that form to the Doves.
Jason Quinlan: Split his time between State League 1 clubs Corio and Keilor Park last season but will look to step up and settle at Doveton in 2024.
Ronnell Shamoun: Arrives after three goals in six matches last season, despite Moreland United going winless and suffering relegation. Will hope to avoid a similar situation this season.
ESSENDON ROYALS
Brad Norton: One of the biggest recruiting coups of the off-season. The South Melbourne captain and 300-game great returns to Cross Keys Reserve having played one season for the club as a teenager. Made the grade at Adelaide United before returning to Melbourne and winning plenty of silverware with South. Hopes to bring that success to the Royals.
Seb Lo Monaco: A Royals junior returns to the club after four years with the Melbourne City and Western United academies. Will slot into the Royals attack nicely and figures to be a consistent threat to rival defences.
James Tieri: Crosses from Pascoe Vale where he was named the Under-21 Player of the Year this year. The promising young full-back will look to continue his senior football development after three senior matches for the Rams. .
Ethan Georgopoulos: A member of Pascoe Vale’s successful under-21 team last season and now looking for more senior opportunities. A central midfielder who will look to develop his game alongside the likes of Vince Lia and Brad Norton. Made two senior appearances this year.
Jayden Tran: Spent last season in Melbourne Knights’ under-21 team, playing 24 matches and scoring two goals. Will look to make the step into senior football at Essendon.
Lawrence Milanzi: Played two games and scored two goals for mid-table State League 3 club Rowville Eagles having also played seven matches for South Springvale in State League 1.
Ryan Mudaliar: Just the three games for Western United’s under-21s in VPL1 last season but will look to continue his development at senior level with Essendon.
Yusuke Nishiyama: Scored two goals in 22 matches as Banyule City suffered relegation from State League 1. Nishiyama goes the other way, stepping up to VPL2 with Essendon.
Noah Ryan: A mainstay in Western United’s under-21s last season, playing 25 matches, but looking to make the move to senior football in 2024 with the Royals.
Phillip Riccobene: A member of Avondale’s premiership and championship-winning squad last season and will bring much-needed experience and a calm head in defence to the Royals squad.
Theophanis Tzelepis: A former South Melbourne youth player, Tzelepis arrives from Spanish club Racing Murcia. Brings international experience to Cross Keys Reserve looking to continue his development.
Desire Nkonodogoro: Steps up from State League 1 club Bentleigh United Cobras. The former Dandenong Thunder junior striker scored three goals in 12 games.
Gervais Nkonodogoro: The midfielder arrives from State League 3 side South Yarra. Showed his ability to get forward and hit the scoreboard with nine goals but also tenacious in winning back possession.
Prince Jordan Adeyemi: The English forward arrives from Hornchurch in the Isthmian League Premier Division.
Rashid Hayek: Made one VPL1 appearance for Western United but spent the majority of the season at under-21 level. Will look to step up to more regular senior football with the Royals.
William Thomason: Was a regular at Oakleigh Cannons last season with 19 appearances and will step back to VPL2 looking to play a bigger role in 2024.
GOULBURN VALLEY SUNS
Justin Riescher: The American arrives after a decorated college career with Dalton State. The forward-attacking midfielder scored 56 goals in 84 appearances for the Roadrunners and received first team NAIA All American honours as well as Southern States Athletic Conference Player of the Year and Golden Boot in 2021.
Noah Cicoria: The American midfield-defender arrives from Dalton State University in Georgia. Scored one goal and provided three assists in 19 matches in the 2022-23 Southern States Athletic Conference season.
Sean Grant: A former Suns player who returns after a couple of seasons with Shepparton South in the Amateurs. It’s not hard to see why after 21 goals in 15 league matches and 10 goals in three cup games in 2023.
Niki Kitabatake: Was a regular for Ballarat City, playing 22 games, as the club suffered relegation back to State League last season.
Declan Maiorano: Returns to the Suns having previously gone through the club’s youth program. Spent time at local club Shepparton United but is ready to return to the big boys in VPL2.
Callum Schorah: The 26-year-old English winger arrives in Shepparton from City of Liverpool in the Northern Premier League Division 1. Spent time in the US with Georgia Revolution as well as UK clubs AFC Liverpool, Widnes and Chorley
MELBOURNE SRBIJA
Louis Danquah: The Englishman has traversed the lower tiers of English football, playing for the likes of Mansfield Town, Macclesfield and Kidderminster and arrives from Manchester-based Stalybridge Celtic. Brings plenty of experience to Srbija’s defence with his speed and leadership and could be used further up the ground.
Luka Ninkovic: A contender for recruit of the season with the striker going from NPL heavyweight South Melbourne to the newly promoted VPL2 club. Scored one goal in two appearances for Bentleigh before making a mid-season move to Hellas, scoring one goal in 10 matches. Will provide plenty for the club on and off the field.
Ryan Brown: An attacking weapon, Brown scored nine goals in 20 appearances for Beaumaris this season. The star forward won a State League 1 South-East championship with the Sharks in 2022, bagging 13 goals.
Luke Bighin: Was a part of the Brunswick Juventus squad that suffered relegation from VPL1 last season, playing 13 games. Will still make the trip to VPL2 but has linked up with FC Melbourne, hoping for a better season.
Enzo Campana: Left Eastern Lions in 2022 for Europe, making stops in Serbia and Montenegro. Returns to Australia from FK Jedinstvo Bijelo Polje in the Montenegrin top-flight. Will add plenty of experience and class to the Srbija squad.
Cameron Davies: Played 12 games and scored one goal as Keilor Park narrowly avoided relegation in State League 1 in 2023. Steps up with old rival FC Melbourne looking to help the club cement itself at VPL2 level.
Jarrod Hill: Was a staple of the Beaumaris line-up in VPL2 last season, playing 21 games, and jumps across to Melbourne looking to continue that consistency.
Max Minuzzo: Has played 21 games in each of the past two seasons at State League 2 club Epping City. However, the club was relegated last season and Minuzzo will jump up to VPL2 with FC Melbourne.
Finn Phelan-Naylor: Starred at VPL2 Under-21 level last season, scoring 17 goals for Boroondara-Carey Eagles. Has been poached by Srbija to boost the club’s attacking firepower and will hope to cement his spot in the senior team.
NORTH SUNSHINE EAGLES
Nishinoue Hiyato: The Japanese veteran arrives from fourth-tier Japanese club Verspah Oita, where he made 12 appearances from 2020 to 2023. The 27-year-old can play a variety of positions across midfield and even in defence, giving the Eagles crucial versatility.
Abdalla Okud: Made 11 State League 1 appearances for Whittlesea United last season. Will add valuable depth to the Eagles’ squad as it aims to go one step further this season.
Diellon Memishi: Only played two senior games for VPL1 club Werribee City last season and will hope to see more game time this season.
Dion Muhtari: Only played the two games for Melbourne Victory’s under-21s last season but make an impact when he did, scoring two goals. The Eagles will be looking to develop him into a consistent senior footballer.
Farah Farah: Had a prolific season in State League 2 last season with Western Suburbs. Farah scored seven goals in 20 appearances and will look to bring that form to VPL2.
Hayato Nishinoue: The 28-year-old Japanese midfielder will try his hand in Australian football this season. Arrives from Verspah Oita, in the fourth tier of Japanese football.
Joshua Mikac: The youngster played two goals for Melbourne Knights’ under-21s last season and will look to make a mark at senior level in VPL2.
Ndue Mujeci: Played eight NPL matches for Dandenong Thunder last season after arriving just before the mid-season transfer deadline from Albania. However, couldn’t find the back of the net and will be keen to correct that this season.
NUNAWADING CITY
Miki Gamo: The Japanese midfielder has done the rounds of Victorian clubs, making stops at South Springvale, Northcote City and Altona Magic. Returns to Nunawading City this season after a season with the Magic.
Lajos Hun: The former Melbourne City academy goalkeeper has had stints at Springvale White Eagles, Oakleigh Cannons, Casey Comets and South Springvale. Steps back up to VPL2 level with Nunawading this season hoping to compete for the No.1 jersey.
Daniel Maclennan: Returns to Mahoneys Reserve after a season in New Zealand with Christchurch United. The 32-year-old Scot scored 18 goals in 36 appearances in Christchurch and City will be hoping he can bring that form to the VPL2.
Tosan Popo: The Englishman arrives from semi-professional Isthmian League club Bowers and Pitsea. Has an eye-catching youth career, developing at Chelsea, West Ham and Charlton before stops around the US and UK.
Amr Sarip: Made 11 appearances and scored two goals for VPL2 rival Box Hill United last season. Adds important depth at Nunawading City.
Zac Taweel: The former Melbourne City academy player was playing State League 4 for Waverley Wanderers last season, scoring seven goals in 15 matches. Steps up to VPL2, which is more of a level a player of his potential should be.
Oscar Thompson: Played close to 40 games in 2022-23 for State League 1 club Sydenham Park and is ready to test himself at VPL2 level with Nunawading City. Adds good depth to the squad.
PASCOE VALE
Hayden Tennant: Appointed vice-captain of Hume City in NPL Victoria last season, underlining his experience and reliability. Was a key member of Hume’s Dockerty Cup win in 2019 and scored one goal in 23 appearances last season.
Hayato Fukuda: The Japanese youngster joins the Rams from Fukuyama Heisei University.
Eyob Zewdie: Enjoyed an outstanding season for South Melbourne under-21s last season, scoring 13 goals, including a goal in the grand final against Port Melbourne. Will look to establish himself as a regular senior footballer this season at Paco.
Harry Monaghan: A massive recruiting coup for the Rams, securing the Hume City captain. Monaghan is a stalwart of the NPL1 competition and has been one of the best defenders in the competition in recent years. Played 16 games for Hume in 2023.
Daniel Lucente: The defender returns to Paco after a year with Bentleigh Greens. Lucente played every match for the Greens and will be a key player in the Rams’ bounce back campaign.
Koray Cekic: Played 15 NPL1 games in 2023, splitting his time between Hume City and Moreland City. Will look to establish himself as a more regular contributor at NPL3 level.
Maximo Naveiro: The Argentine defender split his time between Box Hill United and Preston Lions this year but returns to Pascoe Vale for 2024. Had signed for the 2020 and 2021 seasons, which were cancelled by COVID.
Aden Gardner: One of North Geelong’s best in a relegation season, scoring three goals in 20 appearances. Returns to Paco after one season with the Warriors and brings plenty of experience from his time in the top-flight.
Birhan Elibol: Spent half a NPL1 season at Moreland City and the second half with Hume City. Played 23 games combined and scored one goal for each club. Looking to cement himself in the first choice XI at Pascoe Vale.
Thomas Alisandratos: The young gun returns to Hosken Reserve after a super campaign with Western United’s under-21s. Joe Piggott: The 30-year-old Englishman came through the ranks at Charlton before embarking on a series of loan moves that included the likes of Gillingham, Southend United and Luton then moved to Cambridge United, Wimbledon and Ipswich Town and Leyton Orient. Won Player of the Year at Wimbledon in 2020-21.
