The recruiting app which changed the way local footy clubs bolstered their lists in the off-season has crossed into cricket. Here’s how it works.

The recruiting app which took local footy by storm has padded up and is on its way to the middle.

Trainstop has progressed into cricket and is now assisting clubs with recruiting this off-season.

Trainstop allows players who are looking to move to a new club to advertise their accomplishments for clubs to sift through.

It removes the tiresome process of knowing whether a player is approachable to recruit.

Trainstop was an enormous success in local footy last season, with 600 clubs and around 6000 players looking to the app.

Trainstop Director Kai Bloomfield said he was shocked by how quickly it became a hit and just had to make the move into cricket.

“It’s been really good, really quick, we weren’t actually expecting it,” Bloomfield said.

“We started it in November with purely just footy, that was my background, I worked at Oakleigh Chargers and St Kilda for a bit.

“I do a bit of junior coaching with Richmond junior footy club and they have a link with Richmond Union Cricket Club.

“They were the first club to get in contact with us because they were using it for footy recruiting and they said ‘there’s got to be some players that play cricket as well’.

“So we opened it up to cricket, it’s still in its infancy but it’s been busy.”

Trainstop’s cricket aspect is booming despite being in its initial stages, with a few hundred players and 16 clubs already registered.

Bloomfield said the filter setting really works for cricket, as clubs can adhere to their specific needs.

“It has the ability to have all the players there in one spot and for them to filter what they are looking for,” he said.

“The platform learns what the club is looking for, say you put in that you’re looking for a wicket keeper, it will keep showing you the top-rated ones in your area.

“We want to get it up to 1000 users in the next three or four weeks, once we get to that point it’ll be useful but already we’ve had players join clubs.”

With so much cricket streamed live, highlights packages are often the true exhibit of a player’s ability.

Bloomfield said users could expect to see that addition to the app very soon.

“We’re in the process at the moment of including that,” he said.

“In the very, very near future, hopefully in the next month.”
