PLENTY Valley coach Adam Drinkwell has predicted recent Australian debutant Tayla Vlaeminck will emerge as one of the “quickest in the world” in coming years.
Vlaeminck made her debut for Australia against Pakistan on Monday, snaring the prized wicket of Pakistan captain Javeria Khan.

The 19-year-old from Bendigo has played Premier Women’s with the Bats since 2012-13, featuring in 24 First XI matches for Plenty Valley.
She showcased her ability to carve through batting line-ups in Round 1 of the current season when she removed Elyse Villani, Molly Strano, Georgia Wareham and Jenny Taffs on her way to 4-23.
“When she was first named in the squad for the New Zealand T20s we were hopeful she might get a game then,” Drinkwell said.
“She had to carry the drinks and then she unleashed a little bit on the Essendon batters at Yarrambat, bowled fast and took out their top four in one of the better spells of fast bowling I have seen in men’s and women’s cricket.
“She was terrific. She would have kept bowling but she was on restrictions.”
Drinkwell said Plenty Valley was proud of Vlaeminck’s development into one of Australian cricket’s rising stars.
“She’s going to have a long international career and we’ll be happy now when she pops her head in and plays a few games for us,” he said.
“She’ll be a bonus whenever she’s with us. Ecstatic she has got a wicket to her name and she is off and running.”
He described the pace bowler as an “aggressive cricketer” who relished “bowling fast and getting wickets”.
“At club level, we understand that. She’s a strike weapon,” he said.
“She’s one of the quickest in Australia. She’ll probably end up becoming one of the quickest in the world in female cricket.”
The Bats are confident Vlaeminck will be unleashed at the Women’s T20 World Cup, which starts on November 9 in the West Indies.
“We’re hoping she might get a game or two in the World Cup which would be even better,” Drinkwell said.
