It’s been a month of exciting news and announcements for Frankston Peninsula.

Heat captain James Nanopolous finished runner up in last month’s Ryder Medal, reward for a splendid 2022-23 season by the all-rounder.

A week ago, Frankston Peninsula was thrilled to bits when former Test spinner Jon Holland re-committed to the Heat.

The 36-year-old, who was dropped from Victoria’s contract list for next season, was inundated with offers from clubs, but chose to continue his Premier Cricket career with Frankston Peninsula.

Frankston Peninsula responded by appointing Holland its Under 18 male cricket coach.

It means the region’s young players will have coaching access to a man who played four Tests for Australia in 2016 and 2018, and was among the most consistent red-ball spinners in the country over the past decade, taking 298 first-class wickets.

Frankston Peninsula also announced head coach Paul Boraston had signed on for a further two seasons. He has steered the Heat for three seasons already.

In other positive news at the Heat, former captain and champion batsman Luke Walker has returned to the club as batting coach.

Frankston Peninsula has also secured former Kingston Hawthorn senior coach Pete Marshall as head of development. He will help with recruiting as well as oversee Frankston Peninsula’s pathway development.

Frankston Peninsula is also set to add a senior women’s side next season.

The club is advertising for a head of high performance coach who is “a dynamic thinker and leader with the experience and knowhow to take aspirational and talented female cricketers to the next level”.

Frankston Peninsula added: “FPCC have the best cricket facilities in the state and a vision to match these facilities with the best female high performance cricket program that will produce the next generation of Victorian female cricket stars.’’
