BOLAND brothers Scott and Nick put up a roadblock in the face of a Camberwell win on Saturday after a dramatic Frankston Peninsula collapse had the Magpies on the verge of victory.

The pair found themselves at the crease at the AH Butler Oval with the Magpies surging after the Heat lost 4-2 in a startling collapse.

Camberwell coach Brendan Drew and captain Tom Russ tore through the middle order to see Matthew Gapes (7), English import Tom Wood (33), Brodie Symons (0) and captain Dale Elmi (1) perish in the space of two runs as the Heat slumped to 7-166.

But in a remarkable rearguard stand, the Boland brothers batted for all of 90 minutes to see the game finish in a draw and deny Camberwell a seventh win of the summer.

Camberwell declared at its overnight score of 8-316 and Frankston made a bright start to its pursuit.

Opener Nathan Harford (22) was run out after a 62-run stand with Gordon Waterfall (43) before a half-century from Liam Tonkin gave the home side some hope of reeling in the imposing total.

But Drew removed Tonkin (55) shortly after the No.3 reached his half-century with the score at 3-152.

The Heat’s attention then quickly turned to saving the game after Drew (4-22) and Russ (2-61) combined to leave the middle-order in ruins.

The Boland brothers put on 54 for the eighth wicket as the Heat reached 7-222 by stumps.

The draw has the Magpies sitting nine points outside the top eight with three rounds remaining.
