A pair of Aussie internationals headline the Premier Cricket Team of the Week.

Glenn Maxwell hit a dazzling century for Fitzroy Doncaster and Marcus Harris came agonisingly close for St Kilda.

Victoria teammate Brodie Couch impressed for Geelong and Todd Murphy sneaks in as 12th man.

Meanwhile, a young paceman is taking the competition by storm, taking 12 wickets in three matches and his Kingston Hawthorn skipper knocked in a second straight ton.

Check out the best performers from the weekend’s action in our Round 10 XI.

1. LUKE MANDERS (Casey-South Melbourne)

The talented 30-year-old pushed his season average to 56.17 after hitting his second century of the season in a dominant display. He and opening partner Ashley Chandrasinghe put on 177 for the opening wicket as Manders finished with 116 runs from 97 balls. His innings included 14 boundaries and three 6s.

2. HAYDEN BUTTERWORTH (Geelong)

Another week, another Butterworth century. The Cats opener has scored three tons (and an 85) in his last six knocks. In just nine games he’s piled up 581 runs at an average of 64.56, which is already his third best campaign of his decade-long career. Butterworth’s 102 was the 10th hundred of his decorated career and came from 142 balls with seven boundaries. He also picked up a wicket but alas, Geelong couldn’t salute in celebration due to Glenn Maxwell’s fireworks.

3. MARCUS HARRIS (St Kilda)

As if the task of beating undefeated St Kilda isn’t hard enough then Australia’s Test opener Marcus Harris arrived. He proceeded to feast on the Northcote attack, hitting 97 not out from 105 balls with 10 boundaries and a six in a dominant display that was robbed of a well-deserved century by a short chase. Took three catches in the field in a man-of-the-match display. It was unlucky timing for the Dragons given it was Harris’ first game for the Saints this season.

4. GLENN MAXWELL (Fitzroy Doncaster)

The Australian star has played two games for the Lions this season and has two centuries to his name. His first was a 125 not-out in the Vic Super Slam in December. On Saturday, he finished with 122 from 90 balls to lift his side back into the top eight. He was involved in a 128-run partnership with Liam Banthorpe to help lift his side out of trouble at 2-39. Maxwell found the boundary with ease finishing with 14 fours and five sixes.

5. SHORYE CHOPRA (Kingston Hawthorn)

Before Round 9, Chopra hadn’t scored more than 40. He now has two centuries in a row after posting an unbeaten 107 from 115 balls to lift his side past Ringwood. The talented middle order batter has now pushed his season average to 48. His last two performances have seen him move to the top of the Hawks’ run scoring charts.

6. LIAM BANTHORPE (Fitzroy Doncaster)

On a weekend where many other ‘keepers across the competition were down, Banthorpe finished unbeaten on 52 to record his third half-century of the season across all formats. Banthorpe was involved in a key partnership with Glenn Maxwell and was there at the end as the Lions got across the line chasing down Geelong’s 8-236 with a couple of wickets to spare.

7. JAMES NANOPOULOS (Frankston)

The Heat skipper pips Jono Merlo for the all-rounder spot. Nanopoulos did everything in his power but couldn’t stop Essendon winning on Saturday. He opened the bowling the returned fine figures of 2-26 and ran out James O’Donnell then topscored with the bat, making 35 before falling to Bombers counterpart James Seymour. “Nano” has had an up-and-down first season at Frankston Peninsula with 168 runs and 12 wickets in nine matches but there’s no doubting his fighting abilities.

8. BRODIE COUCH (Geelong)

The Geelong paceman can hold his head high after Geelong felt the wrath of Glenn Maxwell’s bat on Saturday. Couch finished with 3-30 from his 10 overs, one of the few Cats bowlers not to have their stats blown out. Noah Korkolis last just one ball, out for a golden duck in the first over of the Fitzroy Doncaster innings and Couch returned to dismiss Ejaz Alavi and Sam Elliott to give his team a sniff but it was too little too late.

9. LIAM BOWE (Essendon)

Bowe edges out Saints spinner Todd Murphy despite conceding one more run. The deciding factor, Bowe’s run out of Akshay Kodoth for 22 to break a dangerous partnership with James Nanopoulos. He then took three of the next four wickets as Frankston Peninsula lost 5-44 and Essendon sealed a 20-run victory at Windy Hill. Bowe’s haul takes him to 20 wickets for the season – equal second on the Premier Cricket charts – a milestone he’s achieved every season he’s spent in red and black.

10. ZACK RICHARDSON (Kingston Hawthorn)

Richardson did just about everything in the Hawks’ win finishing with 4-43 from 10 overs. His scalps included the in-form Tom Rogers for 30 before he broke the key partnership of Adam Amin and Arjun Dhull – eventually removing both batters. Saturday’s performance marked an incredible run of form for Richardson who has taken 12 wickets in three games since a recall to the First XI in January. That’s four wickets in each game. Amazing.

11. BEN JOWETT (Camberwell Magpies)

Jowett claimed the week’s best bowling figures with 5-68 and his maiden Premier Cricket five-wicket haul in the process, a fantastic achievement. Coming on first change he broke the Swans’ 177-run opening stand with the wicket of centurion Luke Manders and had Michael Wallace and Devin Pollock a few balls later to put the breaks on what loomed as a massive total. Harish Kannan and Ruwan Kellapotha completed the five-for as Jowett removed five of Casey-South Melbourne’s top seven.

12. TODD MURPHY (St Kilda)

After a stint with the Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash, Murphy returned to the St Kilda line-up in devastating form. The 21-year-old took his season tally to 15 wickets after finishing with 3-34 against Northcote. The off-spinner took two crucial wickets as Northcote lost 5-32 in its innings.
