Could the next Adam Scott or Karrie Webb be blooming in our own backyard?

There’s no shortage of golf’s next generation of stars emerging on Victoria’s famed courses.

With help from astute Golf Australia PR man Patrick Taylor, we’ve identified the young guns – aged under 21 – turning heads …

Amelia Harris

Still only 17, Harris has long been one of Victoria’s top amateur golfers.

Harris has been part of Victorian Interstate teams for several years and was one of five undefeated players at this year’s Australian Interstate Teams Matches in Perth.

As a 15-year-old, Harris almost secured an incredible win at the 2023 Adidas Australian Amateur. Leading for the first three days, the teen talent was chased down on the final day to fall agonisingly short.

Like Jazy Roberts, Harris has already mixed it with the professionals in a number of events, and made headlines when she pre-qualified for the Australian Open in 2022 as a 14-year-old.

In 2023, Harris won the prestigious Riversdale Cup, and finished runner-up at the same event this year.

Playing her golf at Yarra Yarra, Harris this year won a fourth consecutive club championship – and was also part of this year’s winning Division One Pennant team.

Harris has committed to the University of South Carolina where she will commence playing golf and studying in 2026. Currently plays with a handicap of three.

Charles Roylance

One of only four undefeated players on the Australian Junior Interstate stage in April, Roylance – a Victorian representative – won the under-16 Victorian Junior Open in 2023. One of many prospects from Maribyrnong College, the Medway Golf Club member was recognised as one of the state’s best junior golfers in 2024 at the Victorian School Sports Awards.

Elbert Kim

The Salesian College product was the winner of 2024 Victorian Junior Masters – shooting three under par – after placing third of a field of 61 at the 2023 Victoria All Schools State Golf Final. A member of the Huntingdale Golf Club, he also represented Victoria at the Junior Australian Interstate Teams Matches earlier this year.

Hamish Farquharson

Hamish Farquharson’s name is consistently at the top of leaderboards around the country, with his biggest win to date coming at the 2024 South Australian Junior Amateur.

Farquharson was part of both Victorian teams at the Australian Junior Interstate Teams Matches, and the open-age Australian Interstate Teams Matches this year, where the Victorian boys took out the title in the juniors.

This year Farquharson, who plays off four, had the honour of pulling on the green and gold at the Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation Junior Championship in Hong Kong, finishing 13th.

In August, Farquharson will also spend time at Cameron Smith’s home in Florida, practice with the former world No. 2 and also travel with Smith to the LIV Golf Chicago event as one of this year’s recipients of the Cameron Smith Scholarship. And the Metropolitan Golf Club local is still only 18.

Jaehee Yun

Many will remember her hole-in-one on the third in the final round of the Victorian Junior Masters at Churchill-Waverley in December. The rare feat was followed by the title, with rounds of 68, 76 and 71 to win by two strokes. The 15-year-old is putting together some CV, with eight top 10 tournament finishes to her name. A member of Box Hill Golf Club in Melbourne’s east.

Jessica Zhu

Shooting rounds of 72, 69 and 76 at this year’s Tasmanian Junior Amateur, Zhu rose to the challenge of a playoff, snaring a par on the final hole to salute with a championship. Hailing from Victoria Golf Club, Zhu ran second for last year’s Vic Junior Masters and also romped to the Southeast Asia Junior Golf International Open title last December. Earlier this year she was named a Victorian junior team representative.

Jazy Roberts

The 20-year-old is one of the brightest young Australian golfers and has already turned heads on the world stage.

Originally from Belvoir Park Golf Club just south of Bendigo, Roberts now plays out of Yarra Yarra on the famed Melbourne Sandbelt, and alongside Amelia Harris, helped the club secure this year’s Women’s Division One Pennant Flag.

Roberts, who plays with a handicap of five, had wins at the Keperra Bowl and the Dunes Medal in 2024, and has been consistently at the top of international leaderboards in recent weeks.

She made her way into the quarter-finals at The R&A Women’s Amateur Championship, and more recently finished runner-up at the North & South Women’s Amateur Championship at Pinehurst Resort – one of the oldest and most prestigious tournaments in amateur golf.

Roberts was one of two recipients of this year’s Karrie Webb Scholarship, and has represented Australia twice this year at the Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific Championship and the Queen Sirikit Cup.

Kirk Kryskow

The whiz-kid won the under-16 section of the Australian Junior Amateur tournament in April – following a host of honours. First swinging a club at age five, the Maribyrnong College student has gone on to represent School Sport Victoria, win the under-14 Vic Junior Open Division in 2023, the Riversdale Junior Cup in ’24 and go through unbeaten in his 2024 pennant season. He also finished top-five in the 2024 Victorian Junior Masters.

Max Moring

In the last 12-months, Moring, now 20, has probably been the most prolific Victorian amateur in the male ranks.

He finished off 2024 with wins at both the Portsea Open Amateur and the Dunes Medalv – two of the country’s most revered events – and then made a blistering start to 2025 by clinching the Riversdale Cup.

Moring represented Victoria at this year’s Australian Interstate Teams Matches in Perth, and also mixed it with the professionals at this year’s Heritage Classic on the Challenger PGA Tour of Australasia.

Like fellow top Victorian prospects Amelia Harris and Jazy Roberts, Moring is a member at Yarra Yarra Golf Club.

Rupert Toomey

Taking out the championship at his golf club – Huntingdale – in 2023, and the Tasmanian Junior Amateur the same year (shooting rounds of 71, 72, 65 and 71), the 2025 Victorian junior team representative looms as one to watch, having placed in the top 10 on nine occasions at open-age and junior events. Another gong doesn’t look far away for the emerging talent.

Seabil Leong

Selected to represent Victoria this year at the Junior Interstate Teams Matches in Queensland, it’s been a steady rise for the Maribyrnong College prospect, who was the School Sport Victoria Junior Girl Champion in 2022 before winning the SSV Secondary Schools Junior Golf Final at Gisborne Golf Club in ’23. With the hope of turning professional by age 20, the young gun was among the best at this year’s Riversdale Cup - Australia’ second-oldest amateur 72-hole golf tournament – finishing fourth. Bright future ahead.

Sophie Mann

After a string of top-six finishes across various events, the Rowville Sports Academy prospect broke through to win the Victorian Junior Open last year – prevailing in a playoff. A member of the Keysborough Golf Club, she hit the ground running this year, edging out several of the state’s best to take out the junior section of the Webex Player Series Murray River tournament.
