Moorooduc has a key signing and a new direction.

Tyabb keeper-batter Rob Hearn has joined the Ducs as director of coaching and also as a player.

Hearn played top grade cricket in Sydney and Melbourne, including 13 matches in Dandenong’s first XI in 2013-14, before embarking on a successful career in the MPCA, with stops at Mornington, Hastings and the Yabbies.

He was captain-coach of Hastings when it won the MPCA Sub District premiership in 2016-17.

“He’s coming on as director of coaching, similar to Bobby Wilson (at Dromana),” Moorooduc cricket manager Kenny Cremen said.

“Robbie is going to be overseeing it...training, organising pre season game plans, working with the coaches and captains.”

Ben Williams will again be Moorooduc’s first XI captain and Nick Williams coach.

The Ducs have lost leading batter Madu Perera to Dromana and Cremen hopes Hearn will be an ample replacement.

The Ducs have also picked up young batter Ben Miller from Seaford Tigers.

“We’re going for a bit of youth this year,” Cremen said.

“And Robbie can come in and oversee it and rebuild.”
