A sneaky changeroom thief left Baxter’s batsmen hungry on Saturday — not for runs, but for food.
While play was going on in the MPCA Provincial game between Baxter and Mt Eliza at Baxter Park, a dog made its way into the Baxter rooms and sniffed out an assortment of sandwiches in the players’ bags.
The hungry hound especially liked the look of two delicious rolls belonging to Baxter’s Justin Bridgeman and Chris Brittain, devouring every crumb.
When the players walked into the rooms at the tea break, it soon became evident what had happened.
“It was just commotion at the tea break,” Mt Eliza skipper Tom Baron said.
“We thought what the hell is going on in there – Bridgy was like, ‘my roll’s gone’.”
The hairy culprit got way scot-free.
“We think it was one of our supporters’ dogs but we’re not sure because there were about 10 dogs floating around,’’ Baron said.
“It was pretty funny. Everyone was having a good laugh about it by the end of the day. We were into Bridgy about it a fair bit while he was batting.”
