Sweeping changes at Langwarrin.

Last month the Kangaroos locked in new coach Adrian Jones, from Caulfield.

And now they’ve had a change of captain, with long-serving Travis Campbell relinquishing the role.

Langy’s new skipper will be champion batsman Chris Brittain, who takes on the top job a year after joining the club from Baxter.

Brittain, 42, said he never envisaged he would captain Langwarrin, but he’s thrilled to get the opportunity.

“I didn’t expect it coming across (from Baxter), just because of how successful Langwarrin was going,’’ Brittain said.

“I’m pumped, with the group that we’ve got, the talent and the calibre of people that we get to spend the year with I’m quite excited.

“With the young kids coming through it’s an exciting time and hopefully we can get a flag.’’

Brittain captained Heatherhill to two Provincial premierships and he also skippered Baxter for a season.

Langwarrin has made two early signings for the 2022-23 season, securing fast bowler Jackson Mockett from Pines and Mordialloc all-rounder Jakob Woinarski.

Brittain, who has scored over 20 centuries in the MPCA, said he was looking forward to two-day cricket returning next season.

“I’m really looking forward to going back to that,’’ he said.

“I was out of nick this year. I felt alright in the nets but if you’re out of nick you can spend some time in the middle in a two-dayer, whereas in the one-dayers you always feel like you’ve got to go. You haven’t got that time just to settle down. I’m looking forward to batting some long periods of time.’’

Langwarrin bowed out in the semi-finals last season when it lost to eventual premiers Old Peninisula.

“We were in the mix halfway through the semi-final, it was just a few little things that we’ve discussed as a group…it could have changed pretty easily and all of a sudden we’re in a grand final,’’ he said.

“We’re certainly not far away.’’
