Mignon du Preez is a Melbourne Star.

Take away the WBBL affiliation and she’s a star in her own right, as she showed last night in the Victorian Premier Cricket women’s T20 match at Dandenong.

A guest player for the Panthers, the South African right-hander rifled 142 not against Carlton-Brunswick on Wilson Oval.

It was the highest score in a Victorian women’s T20.

She faced 69 deliveries, cracking 13 to the boundary and seven over it.

Du Preez raised her century with one of her sixes, and used the last three overs to lift Dandenong to a record total of 4-201.

Carlton-Brunswick made a respectable 3-127 in its reply, the match finishing in darkness.

The visitors might have suspected their bowlers were in for some rough treatment when Du Preez opened her scoring with two boundaries through cover.

As her innings progressed she became more unconventional, skipping wide outside off-stump and lifting the ball through midwicket.

Du Preez sent one delivery sailing to the gates at the entrance to Shepley Oval, a mighty strike.

Carlton-Brunswick granted her two lives, catches going down at midwicket and mid-on.

Du Preez had a third chance if you included Dandenong teammate Sophie Strickland’s attempt to intercept a ball blistered to the front of the changerooms. Strickland has a foot injury; now she may have a damaged digit.

Carlton-Brunswick had early joy when Madison Albers clipped the off-stump of Sophie Molineux, who had sped to 24 off 12 balls.

Out went Molineux and in came Mignon, to play a memorable innings on a night when 13 Stars and Renegades players turned out in the T20s.

“Pretty handy when you have someone come in and make almost 150, isn’t it?’’ Dandy captain Emma “Gags’’ Gallagher said.

“It’s great to have these players come back and play in the competition. The girls learn a lot by watching a knock like that. Awesome stuff.’’

Du Preez played two matches for the Panthers last season.

“She still had her Dandenong cap,’’ Gallagher said.

“It was optional for them (WBBL) players to play tonight and she wanted to play.

“She’s not only a fantastic player but the type of person you love having around the club.’’

Asked if she had seen a better hand in Premier Cricket, Gallagher said: “When you’ve got Meg Lanning kicking around, a few of her knocks stick in the mind. Sophie too. But it was certainly up there.’’

Dandenong staged a T20 doubleheader, with the men’s team playing St Kilda at Shepley Oval. Bad light stopped play with the Saints 5-92 off 15.2 overs in reply to 7-124. Dandenong was awarded the match by one run.
