ROUND 2 REVIEW
Some of Victoria’s finest young female cricketers have put on a show as the Marg Jennings Cup returned on Tuesday.
There was arguably no better performer than Essendon Maribyrnong Park young gun Amanpreet Kaur who hit the ball to all parts of the ground in a wonderful 112-run performance against Plenty Valley.
A move up the order worked wonders for Kaur who batted at seven in her side’s opening game of the tournament before Christmas.
To cap off a sensational display. Kaur finished with 2-4 including the final wicket of the clash as her side ran out 124-run winners.
Melbourne’s Mia Perrin also put together an impressive showing with the bat as she finished with an unbeaten 95 in her side’s seven-wicket win over Greenvale Kangaroos.
The budding opener hit 17 boundaries and one six during her 59-ball innings and looked likely to reach triple figures had the Kangaroos posted a bigger target.
Hasrat Gill provided perfect support with 41 runs of her own.
The day’s best bowling figures belonged to Mia Pendergast of Prahran who finished with 5-21 against Box Hill.
Pendergast has been a regular in Prahran’s women’s First XI this season.
