Brenton Parchment has stepped down as Doutta Stars captain-coach.
Opening batsman Hamish Moore will replace the veteran allrounder at the helm in 2019-20.
After guiding the Stars to a VTCA Senior minor premiership and a runners-up finish, Parchment will “take a step back”.
Parchment and fellow West Indian Lorenzo Ingram are currently playing in the Netherlands but will return to Buckley Park this season.
Stars president Tom Lamplugh said Moore was excited by the opportunity to lead the club.
“Hamish has been at the club since he was 18 … as he says ‘I’m a Doutta person’,” he said.
“He’s played at (Premier Cricket club) Essendon, then went over to England and spent two summers there, so we’re really excited for him to be coach.
“Brenton is going to take a step back and is going to concentrate purely on playing.”
Moore was the VTCA Turner Shield’s leading run-scorer last season amassing 764 runs at an average of 63 with four hundreds and a high score of 169 not out.

Ingram wasn’t far behind with 726 runs at an average of 55.8.
Parchment was the Stars’ leading wicket-taker with 35 scalps last season, second behind Chanaka Welegedara in Senior Division.
Moore’s opening partner Luke Kilby will return from England for his second season with Doutta but the news isn’t as good for opening bowler Jamie McIlroy.
“Unfortunately, Jamie has stress fractures in his back, so he won’t be returning,” Lamplugh said.
“We’re currently on the look out for a new opening bowler but there’s nothing confirmed on that front.”
It’s a big blow for Doutta after McIlroy’s VTCA Senior Team of the Year-calibre season saw him take 26 wickets at an average of 18.5.
Stars fell to Strathmore in the 2018-19 grand final but Lamplugh said the club had taken plenty of positives out of the season.
“Obviously, it was disappointing losing the grand final but as a club we’ve stepped back and looked at how young we are,” he said.
“Except for Brenton, Lorenzo, Hamish and Wigs (Shannon Wigmore), we’re all under the age of 25, so we know we’ve got some good cricket ahead of us.
“It’s onwards and upwards from here … we’re excited about not just the Firsts but also the twos, threes and the fours.”
