Some big individual efforts across the grades highlighted FTGDCA’s Fire Relief Round, with some vintage performances helping the push for season-defining results.
Knox Gardens posted 287 against The Basin at Batterham Reserve.
The Falcons made it though the first session to be 0-60 from the first 22 overs, with Pete Dunlop building the foundations for a big day at the top of the order.
The visitors continued to find runs, with Jarrod Butcher (33) and Mitch Gregory (34) helping in the middle order, as Dunlop led the way before being dismissed for 94.
Nick Freeling (4-54) was the best of the Bears’ attack.
Johnson Park is in a great position after dismissing Ferntree Gully Footballers for 153 at Fair Park.
The Griffens were 3-39 early as Steve Devenish removed both openers on the way to 4-48 in 33 overs. Ben Rawlings topscored with 43.
The Sharks then faced 10 overs before stumps, reaching 1-34 in reply.

Upper Ferntree Gully showed plenty of fight with the bat in its encounter with Upwey.
The Tigers attack made early breakthroughs and restricted the home team to 6-77 from 43 overs. But the Kings rallied and with Jay Collee reaching 58 they posted 9-173.
Steve Gannell (5-75) and Cameron Wheeler (3-47) were best with the ball.
Fresh from his highly-successful Australian Country Cricket Championships campaign, Lysterfield’s Nathan Walsh fell one run short of a century as the Beavers posted 9-266 against Belgrave.
Jarrod McPhee (3-54) did his best for the Magpies while Jake Arundell (34) provided Walsh with plenty of support.
And Trent Scholfield hit an unbeaten 91 against Eildon Park to have Knoxfield in a strong position (7-216) by stumps.
With the winner to remain in the top four, the Knights won the toss and started solidly, reaching 3-98 at the tea break before Scholfield cashed in after the interval.
For the Panthers, Jurgen Andersen (3-61) and Jake Evans (3-84) were the pick of the bowling.
