The Frankston Bombers have been busy building towards season 2023.

On Sunday, they unveiled the well respected Kirby McConnon as an assistant coach.

McConnon played with Williamstown in the VFL before moving to EFL powerhouse Vermont and winning two senior premierships from four grand final appearances.

He was an assistant coach at Rosebud last season.

McConnon teaches at Rosebud Secondary College and is known for his outstanding footy IQ.

Frankston Bombers appointed John Brown as their senior coach in August.

The former Frankston Dolphins VFL assistant is an experienced mentor, having coached Rowville for three seasons in Division 1 of the Eastern Football League.

He also coached Vermont’s under-19s for two seasons and was senior assistant under Steve Cochrane and Harmit Singh.

Frankston Bombers have also landed two key recruits, VFL ruckman Jack Berry and Vermont mid-forward Dan Clarke.

Berry joins the Bombers after an outstanding career in the VFL.

He started his football career at Leopold in the GFL before making his way to Geelong VFL where he developed his high IQ ruck craft while playing alongside five AFL listed ruckmen.

Berry was picked up by Werribee in 2018 and instantly made an impact having multiple games collecting over 45 hitouts. He then joined the Frankston Dolphins in 2020.

Clarke, 23, is described as “a genuine blue collar, bull inside mid/forward who thrives on hard footy and has the ability to hit the scoreboard when thrown forward”.

The Bombers believe Clarke will complement their midfield mix in 2023.
