Glamorgan Academy player Callum Nicholls scored his first century for Hampton as the Seahorses upset Mordialloc in CSB Championship division on Saturday.

Nicholls made 118 off 98 balls, with 13 fours and 1 six, to propel Hampton to 5-238 after it batted first at Boss James Reserve.

He and opener Michael FitzGerald, who scored a resolute 51 off 85 balls, put on 174 for the second wicket.

In reply, Mordialloc was shot out for 150 as Louis McAsey (3-35) and former St Kilda paceman Shea Gribben (2-21) ripped the heart out of the Bloodhounds’ batting.

South Caulfield gun Will Russell scored a century against Mentone, but finished on the losing side.

Mentone batted first and put up 5-222, with skipper Dane Heverin making an unbeaten 56 off 58 balls.

Matthew Williams smashed 41 off 31 and Ed McGarry 27 off 19.

In reply, South Caulfield lost Brad Erasmus (1) early and was in all sorts of bother at 6-47, but former skipper Russell (102 off 106 balls) almost dragged his side to victory, with South dismissed for 203 in the final over.

Darcy Brown (4-36) and McGarry (3-25) were the chief destroyers for Mentone.

A man-of-the-match performance by Shane Jeffree helped Bentleigh to a 20-run win over Murrumbeena.

The star all-rounder made 55 off 67 balls (with 7 fours, 1 six) at the top of the list in the Demons’ 5-208. Skipper Jarrad Dowling (59) and English star Ben Seabrook (59no) also hit half-centuries, Seabrook moving to 589 runs, at 117, for the season.

Jeffree then captured 3-7 off eight overs, combining with Chamindu Mathra (3-16), to help dismiss Murrumbeena for 188.

Brett Hardham (62) and Harrison Zandberg (42) did best for the Beena.

Third-placed Beaumaris beat ladder leaders Bonbeach for the second time this season.

Tom Siedle (56) and Sam Coates (47) shared a 94-run opening stand to set up the Sharks’ 9-174, which proved too many for Bonbeach, which was dismissed for 129 in the 39th over.

Beaumaris captain Cameron Watts snared 3-18 to secure victory.

Earlier, Jack O’Shea grabbed 4-20.

Dingley climbed to third spot after thrashing Parkdale United, with Ryan McLean blasting an unbeaten 81.

Tatsat Brahmbhatt grabbed 4-21 and Ashish Harsolia made 50 to set up top-of-the-ladder Carnegie’s win over Clayton District.
