Billie Russell, Lachlan Stewart and Nicola Morris among names picked for Victoria for nationals

Victoria’s future cycling stars are preparing for their next challenge, the national track titles in Brisbane next month.
AusCycling Victoria has selected more than 20 cyclists, boys and girls, to compete after recent success at the state titles in Melbourne.
The cyclists will compete in the under-15 and under-17 age groups.
Meet the riders who have been selected below.
Chloe Bain, Blackburn - under-15 girls : Was one of the best riders in the under-15 field claiming fourth position in all of the events she competed in. Is sure to provide a threat to other riders at the nationals.
Riley Boyd, Brunswick - under-17 boys: Boyd finished fourth in the points race and time trial and was among the best boys rider in the under-17s. He will be looking to go one step better at the nationals and finish on the podium.
Pippa Denham, Horsham - under-17 girls: Won bronze in the points race final as well as finishing top-four in all of her other events. Denham was the only rider from Horsham to compete at the state titles.
Lachlan Ermert, Blackburn - under-15 boys: Will be one of the riders to look out for in the sprint at the nationals. Ermert won silver in the under-15 state titles, falling to Maximus Moore in the final, 2-0. He finished the meet with top-five finishes in all his events.
Ollie Jirovec, Brunswick - under-17 boys
One of the stars of the recent state titles. In his final year of under-17s, he won two state titles in pursuit and the points race and claimed bronze in the time trial and sprint. In pursuit he beat his rival by almost three seconds. Will head to the nationals as one of Victoria’s best prospect to medal in his age group.
Flynn Kestle, Blackburn - under-17 boys
Kestle was selected after winning the time trial at the state titles in the under-17s, beating Lancaster and Jirovec by less than two tenths of a second. The Blackburn rider also competed in other events at the state titles, finishing inside the top six in the sprint (4th) and the points race (6th).
Omer Kirmizi, Brunswick - under-15 boys
One of the best under-15 riders at the state titles. Kirmizi won silver in the silver in the points race before finishing third in the pursuit. He could be a potential medal chance for Victoria at nationals.
Alanah Lake, Blackburn - under-17 girls
Didn’t compete at the recent state titles but Lake was part of the state titles last year and also made the Victorian team for the national road race titles.
Luca Lancaster, Shepparton - under-17 boys
Was unlucky not to win a state title. Lancaster finished second in the time trial, sprint and the points race, losing the time trial final by less than a tenth of a second. Heads to the nationals as one of the best riders in the state.
Archie Martin, Carnegie Caulfield - under-15 boys
Won bronze in the time trial and finished in the top-five in his other events. Martin was unlucky not to win bronze in the pursuit.
Maximus Moore, Hawthorn - under-15 boys
Another rider who won all of his events at the state titles. Moore dominated the field, winning the time trial, the points race, sprint and pursuit. The Hawthorn Cycling Club member will be one of Victoria’s best chances for success at the nationals.
Nicola Morris, Brunswick - under-15 girls
The star of the meet in the under-15 girls. The Brunswick Cycling Club member won gold in four events — the pursuit, the sprint, the time trial and the points race. Will head into the national titles as the best chance from Victoria for success.
Maxx Nuspan, Bendigo - under-17 boys
Finished fourth in the pursuit at the state titles and has had success in the Omnium this season in Adelaide.
Jack Panozzo, Carnegie Caulfield - under-15 boys
Won two silvers and two bronze medals at the state titles and was beaten by Moore in all four events. Panozzo will be hoping to use his silver medal success in the pursuit and time trial to a good national performance in Brisbane.
Zac Robinson, Blackburn - under-17 boys
Robinson finished in the top-five in all three events he competed in. This included a bronze medal in the points race.
Billie Russell, Brunswick - under-17 girls
One of the best under-17 girls riders at the state titles. Russell won gold in the sprint before adding silver medals in the time trial and pursuit. She won a national title last year in the under-15s.
Isla Shaw, Shepparton - under-15 girls
Shaw won two silver and two bronze medals at the state titles. She only lost to two other riders in the carnival. Shaw will be looking to do well in the pursuit and the points race, which is where she won her silver medals.
Lachlan Stewart, Alpine - under-17 boys
Is Victoria’s fastest sprinter in the under-17 boys. He won the title, beating Lancaster 2-1 in the final. He will now look to add a national title. Stewart also won silver in the points race and bronze in the pursuit.
Charvi Tanksale, Carnegie Caulfield - under-15 girls
Tanksale won two silver and bronze, matching Shaw (above) in her performance at the state titles. The Carnegie Caulfield rider won silver in the time trial and sprint.
Addison Torr, Bendigo - under-17 girls
Will head to the national titles confident of success after winning the state title in under-17 girls time trial. She also won silver medals in the sprint and the points race while also gaining bronze in the pursuit.
Lavinia Ward, Blackburn - under-17 girls
Was the most successful under-17 girls rider at the state titles, winning two gold in the pursuit and the points race. Ward held off major challenges from her state rivals and is sure to be a tough rider to beat at the nationals in Brisbane.
