And the opener looks like he’s warming into it nicely again this time around, putting on 84 runs in the first three rounds, highlighted by 45 against the Super Kings in Round 1.
Andrew Chalkley (Koonung Heights)
The former Premier and Subbies batter already has a century to his name from his opening three outings – putting Blackburn to the sword with 134 off 110 in Round 2. Last season the opener smacked 488 runs at 34.86 across 15 matches – including two centuries as the Nungers reached the semi-finals.

Luke Davis (Blackburn)
Tipped in 394 runs last season at 49.25 – and he’s picked up where he left off, driving 138 across two top-flight appearances so far, nudging the ton with 93 against Koonung Heights in Round 2.
Sanitha De Mel (Box Hill North Super Kings)
Ranked fifth for runs last season with 500 at an average of 45. And while the Sri Lankan cracked the ton just once, his campaign hummed along nicely with consistent numbers. So far he has 56 runs, with a best of 36 against Glen Waverley.
Nick Greenhalf (Koonung Heights)
He’s among the top 10 all-time wicket-takers for the club, passing 350 last season – and he’s started the new campaign handily, collecting two apiece against Blackburn and Kerrimuir United, among five at an average of 22.
Satnam Grewal (Mitcham)
Potent with bat and ball again last time driving 420 runs at 38.18 and collecting 15 wickets at 20.80, the 2021-22 Fred Watson medallist has hit the start of this season with 79 runs including 66 against the Super Kings, while his five wickets have included a 4-26 haul against Forest Hill.
Shehan Kudage-Don (Blackburn)
The Burners’ boom recruit hasn’t taken long to fire in his new colours since crossing from Vermont, peeling off 158 runs at 52 so far – including 106 against Vermont South in his latest outing. Last season he smashed three centuries and four half-centuries on the way to 739 runs – averaging 49 – while also collecting 12 wickets.
Russell McManus (Forest Hill)

His 2023-24 campaign yielded 24 wickets at 13.29 in the Howard Wilson Shield along with 342 runs at 42.75. He holds the record for best and fairests won at Forest Hill for good reason, and with his CV, could absolutely shake up the comp again this season.
Jeremy Musso (Koonung Heights)
Last season the Nungers’ skipper took 31 wickets and made 317 runs on the way to the semi-finals – and he’s again turned out solid numbers with bat and ball in the opening month. Six wickets (a best of 3-43 against Kerrimuir United) and 122 runs with 67 against Blackburn. One to watch.
Sanath Ranjan (Box Hill North Super Kings)
The Sri Lankan’s right-arm offies caused more than a few headaches last season, claiming 23 wickets at 18.57 from 15 matches, while tipping in 243 with the bat. Has only got one wicket so far this time around, but he has a 74-run haul to his name. And at almost 36, the former List A cricketer’s record comfortably suggests he’ll influence his share of matches.
Max Rimmer (Blackburn)
The keeper fired an unbeaten 97 off 115 balls against Vermont South in his latest outing, forming 116 runs so far across three matches. He also leads the comp for catches with six.

Last season he hit 436 runs and averaged 48. He’s been a regular in the Vultures’ First XI for close to three decades, etching more than 300 top-flight appearances. And he’s closing in on 10,000 career runs.
Aaron Taun-Henderson (Forest Hill)
The multiple best and fairest smashed an unbeaten 135 in his latest match against Koonung Heights, peeling off 10 fours and nine sixes off 81 deliveries. And statistics show he’s regarded as one of the best bowlers in the BHRDCA this century, also sitting among the most prolific wicket-takers of the past decade – so watch out.
Jason Thompson (Forest Hill)
Nicknamed ‘The Wizard’, a testament to his prolificacy with bat and ball over many years, and a part of Forest Hill’s powerhouse era which won a host of flags. Among the competition’s top wicket-takers of the past 15 years, last season he continued to turn out solid numbers, with 20 at 20 while also plundering 244 runs. And this season he’s got five scalps at 21 so far.
