A massive power outage has caused traffic chaos in Melbourne’s southeast.
Traffic lights are out in several suburbs along the Nepean Hwy, including Bonbeach, Aspendale and Carrum.
The outage is causing traffic snarls during the morning commute and motorists are being advised to take care through the area.
More than 8200 homes and businesses in the area were also reported to be without power.
A United Energy spokesman said power had been restored to more than 7000 customers within minutes of the outage, which occurred just after 7am on March 15.
“Crews and network controllers are working to restore power to remaining customers as quickly and safely as possible,” he said.
