Timothy Grady fronts court over child porn material

A sicko whose sexual preferences for children as young as five became “almost like a drug” shared depraved child porn online over more than a decade.

Melbourne man Timothy Grady was arrested after he was busted with child porn material that he shared online for more than a decade.

A Frankston North man with persistent pedophilic tendencies shared depraved child porn material online for more than a decade before he was outed, a court has heard.

Timothy Grady also engaged in online chats on sexual themes under the user name “Lover in Oz” with various people between 2012 and 2023 before a number of electronic devices were seized from his home in October last year.

The 34-year-old was sentenced in the County Court on Thursday to three years and nine months’ imprisonment on charges of possessing and transmitting child porn and child abuse material.

Police discovered 98 child abuse images across six devices featuring actual children and their animated images during a search of his home in October 2023.

He told police his conversations with like-minded people online was about “fantasy stuff” and said he would never abuse a child in real life.

Grady admitted a history of looking at web based erotic stories of children as it was the easiest thing to get his hands on.

He said his sexual preference involved children five years and over and that child porn material became almost “like a drug”.

In one of his conversations under the user name Lover in Oz via Skype, Grady told the person he was speaking to about touching and sex that “I wish we had a family so we could do that with our babies”

The other user made reference about wanting to have sex with babies. Grady then asked the person if the former could have a three way relationship with an eight-year-old.

In another online conversation when asked what age he preferred, Grady said “Eight, and I’d love to f---one”.

Grady said “I really want to have kids to show them the ropes”, saying his favourite ages were four and five.

Judge Amanda Chambers said Grady actively engaged in the creation of online graphic chat material with pedophilic themes that included content that was “extremely depraved”.

“Included among the images you possessed and distributed included the ones depicting vile sexual abuse of actual children, some of whom were very young, involved in sexual penetration with adults.

Grady will be eligible for parole after serving two years and three months.
