A woman has been taken to hospital after a man allegedly avoided a booze bus and crashed into her car, also injuring himself and a child in Baxter.
Sergeant Julie-Anne Newman said police were working at a breath testing site on Moorooduc Highway when a driver of a Jeep Wrangler allegedly ignored directions to enter about 6.50pm.
The driver allegedly sped off, almost hitting a police officer who had to jump out of the way.
The man continued to drive towards the Sages Rd intersection where he allegedly ran a red light and crashed into another car.
The 41-year-old Mount Eliza man and his 10-year-old passenger were taken to hospital with injuries.
He will be interviewed by police at a later date in relation to conduct endangering life, failing to stop on police direction and other traffic matters.
The 53-year-old female driver of the other car had to be cut from the wreckage.
She was transported to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
