Three children allegedly involved in Glen Eira abduction of Benjamin Phikhohpoom have children’s court matters delayed

Three teenagers who allegedly abducted a Glen Eira College student on his walk home from school in a terrifying attack that left the child in a coma have had their cases delayed.

Three teenagers who allegedly abducted another child in a terrifying daylight attack in Glen Eira have had their matters delayed in a children’s court.

The trio of children allegedly pulled 15-year-old Benjamin Phikhohpoom into a car, stabbed and dragged him 150m, before running him over has he was hurled from the moving vehicle in September last year.

Benjamin was left in an induced coma for six days and spent a number of weeks in the Royal Children’s Hospital.

He had been walking home from school at the time of the alleged attack.

In court on Wednesday, a 15-year-old boy appeared from custody facing numerous charges including those related to his alleged involvement in the abduction of Benjamin.

He will reappear in a children’s court for a bail application on April 2 and is set to appear again for this matter on May 1.

The second co-accused, aged 14, did not appear due to illness and will also return to the court on May 1 for the matter.

The third and final co-accused, also aged 14, appeared in person and has fought the charges, denying he was part of the alleged kidnapping.

The court heard the matter is set to hear evidence from up to 30 witnesses, as well as a large amount of CCTV footage.

He will appear in court again on May 7 for contest mention for the identity issues.

Benjamin has since made a miraculous recovery from the alleged attack and has returned to school.
