THE transformation of the former Daveys Hotel on Frankston’s famed pub corner is now complete and will open this week as a James Squire ale house — The Cheeky Squire.
The venue has undergone a $1 million renovation over the past three months, with builders stripping back the venue to its original brickwork and floors.
When Leader had a sneak peek on Friday, the finishing touches were being put on the venue, which has a contemporary, industrial-themed interior and fantastic views of Kanakook Creek.
New features have also been installed, including a copper bar and a showpiece feature wall containing lights and 3100 beer bottles.

The venue, owned by the ALH group, will offer an extensive range of James Squire and Malt Shovel Brewery beers, complemented by a food menu filled with modern pub favourites.
Patrons can expect everything from hearty cheeseburgers and gourmet share plates to limited edition fairy-floss and mint-flavoured beers on tap.
ALH group spokeswoman Paige Povey said the venue was an “entirely new concept” for Frankston and had a focus on casual dining, craft beer and good food.
“It’s what everyone is after at the moment, the millenials are so interested in their food and their drinks and pairing everything,” she said.
“It’s a first (for Frankston) and it’s exciting.”
Hotel Manager Paul Flinn said 50 new staff from the area had been recruited to work at the pub, describing them as “a great bunch of bubbly personalities”.
He said opening the venue was one of the most exciting projects he’d been involved in during his time in the industry.
Mr Flinn envisaged people would travel far and wide to Frankston to visit the venue, and it would be ideal for Sunday drinks in winter and a hotspot during summer.
The Cheeky Squire will open on Thursday at 11am.
