Teagan Peirce: Seaford druggie ‘forgot’ she had 3g bag of ice

A forgetful ice addict with a ‘pretty extreme’ rap sheet was found wandering Frankston streets with a big bag of meth in her pocket.

A jailbird junkie found staggering around Frankston streets while high as a kite couldn’t remember buying a 3g bag of ice, a court has heard.

Teagan Peirce, who has spent much of the last seven years in and out of custody, also tried to fool police by putting number plates stolen from a similar car on her vehicle so she could drive around without penalty.

The Seaford 33-year-old former panel beater pleaded guilty to drug possession and handling stolen goods charges at Frankston Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

The court heard police officers attended a Frankston address where Peirce was staying on November 11 last year.

They saw a blue Holden Commodore in the yard, which had number plates on it that seemed suspicious.

When they checked the rego details they noticed those plates actually belonged to a similar blue Commodore parked just 200m away.

Police believe Peirce had hoped having plates from a similar car would let her get away with driving it illegally because any crimes would be linked to the other person’s vehicle.

But she was wrong as canny cops checked her car’s VIN – which someone had tried to disguise with a piece of tape - and discovered it was registered to Peirce.

And once they went inside the house officers found another set of stolen plates.

Peirce, who was not present during the raid, was on bail for other offences at the time.

Then on April 26 this year police saw her staggering along a Frankston street in a visibly drug-affected manner.

They searched her and found a 3g bag of ice in her jumper pocket, which she said she had “forgotten” was there, even though it would have cost her several hundred dollars to buy.

Her defence lawyer said Peirce had a long drug history after she was introduced to illicit substances by a neighbour.

She said she was first jailed at the age of 26 and had been in and out of prison since, with most of her long criminal history related to drugs or crimes linked to funding the purchase of them.

She said her client denied stealing the plates and didn’t know they had been fixed to her car as she was not staying there at the time.

Magistrate Vicky Prapas said Peirce had a “pretty extreme” record, but hopefully with family and partner support she could turn her life around.

“Your mother backs you, your partner backs you, you have a lot to stay clean for,” Ms Prapas said.

“You need to commit to your sobriety.”

Peirce was jailed for 30 days, classed as time served, and released from custody.
