Target out and Aldi in for Pakenham Place Shopping Centre renos

Target is closing at a major Pakenham shopping centre but it will make way for a popular supermarket in major redevelopment plans.

Pakenham Place Shopping Centre is getting a facelift as developers unveils plans for the busy precinct.

The retail hub changed ownership last year prompting the renovation, which aims to keep up with the growing resident population.

In the plans will Target will be replaced by budget supermarket Aldi, next to Coles.

A new food and beverage precinct is on the cards along with 30 speciality stores to join Liquorland, Toyworld, a medial centre, Woolworths petrol station and a Priceline.

Onsite parking will be expanded to more than 700 spaces.

The renovation will coincide with the level crossing removal on Main St, McGregor Rd and Racecourse Rd.

Cardinia Shire is one of the fastest growing areas in Australia with more than 112,000 residents, according to 2019 ABS data.
