Streetwatch: Crazy week for police ends with seizure of guns, drugs and cars

In this week’s crime wrap guns, drugs and vehicles were seized in Endeavour Hills, a frontyard fight at a Dandenong North house left a man dead and a man has been charged over a hit-run in Lyndhurst.

DANDENONG

Two people were arrested in Dandenong last Tuesday night after police seized 100 grams of methylamphetamine from a house.

Officers from the Dandenong Frontline Tactical Unit (FTU) were patrolling Stud Rd about 12.30am on December 3 when they attempted to intercept a vehicle one of the duo were in.

The driver of the car allegedly fled from police and was seen driving erratically on James St shortly after.

Officers from the FTU, Operations Response Unit and Dog Squad followed the driver to a house on Ann Street where a 27-year-old man and 22-year-old woman were arrested.

They were taken to Dandenong Police Station where they were interviewed and charged with a raft of offences, including traffick a commercial quantity of methylamphetamine.

The arrests were part of operation tidal, which aims to use a highly visible police presence across the Casey, Greater Dandenong and Cardinia Police Service Areas.

LYNDHURST

A man has been charged over a hit-run collision on Glasscocks Rd on December 1 last year which left another man in hospital for four months.

Last week Dandenong Crime Investigation Unit detectives charged a 42-year-old Hampton Park man with a string of offences including recklessly causing serious injury and negligently causing serious injury.

He was been bailed by police to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court for a filing hearing on December 9.

DANDENONG NORTH

A fight in the front yard of a Dandenong North house left a man dead.

A 26-year-old woman saw a man acting suspiciously in the front yard of her Gladstone Rd home just after 5am on Monday December 2.

The woman’s partner, a 31-year-old Dandenong North man, confronted a 37-year-old man of no fixed address and a fight broke out.

The 37-year-old suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital, where he died hours later.

The woman’s partner was also taken to hospital, where he was spoken to by Homicide Squad detectives who released him pending further inquiries.

Homicide Squad detectives are appealing to anyone who was travelling in the area at the time who may have seen a man chasing another man on Gladstone Rd or Carlton Rd or the altercation taking place between the pair on Carlton Rd, or who may have dashcam footage or information to contact them.

Detectives are also appealing for anyone in the Dandenong North area who observed anyone acting suspiciously in front or rear yards of properties, particularly anyone wearing a dark coloured check shirt and shorts, in the early hours of the morning on Monday December 2 to contact Crime Stoppers.

NOBLE PARK

Dandenong Crime Investigation unit detectives are searching for a handbag thief who approached a woman on Buckley St, Noble Park about 5.25pm on November 27 before snatching her purse and running off.

He has a tanned complexion and is believed to be aged in his early 20s.

He was wearing a blue and grey striped T-shirt, light pants, white shoes and a blue Adidas cap.

ENDEAVOUR HILLS, HAMPTON PARK, DANDENONG SOUTH and SPRINGVALE

Firearms, drugs and vehicles were seized after the arrest of a man by the Special Operations Group in Endeavour Hills on Thursday December 5.

Cardinia Crime Investigation Unit arrested a 30-year-old man at Endeavour Hills Shopping centre about 3pm as part of Operation Paver, an investigation into firearms and drugs trafficking.

Properties were searched in Hampton Park, Dandenong South and Springvale and a number of items were seized in the raids.

Police allegedly recovered a sawn off double barrel shotgun, a Smith and Wesson handgun, a commercial quantity of methamphetamine, GHB, in excess of $50,000 of cash, five allegedly stolen vehicles and a quantity of explosives.

A Hampton Park man has been charged with a raft of offences, including trafficking of firearms and trafficking a commercial quantity of a drug of dependence.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court.

DOVETON and CRANBOURNE NORTH

Four people have been arrested after an alleged carjacking in Doveton last month.

Armed Crime Squad detectives arrested two women and one man in Cranbourne North and Noble Park.

A 31-year-old Cranbourne North man was charged with aggravated car jacking, and reckless conduct endangering life.

A 28-year-old Doveton woman was charged with aggravated car jacking, and a 23-year-old Cranbourne North woman was charged with aggravated car jacking.

The trio faced Melbourne Magistrates’ Court and the Cranbourne North man and Doveton woman were remanded in custody, while the Craabourne North woman was bailed.

All three will appear again at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on February 28, 2020.

Last Thursday a 32-year-old Meadow Heights woman was arrested in Melbourne and charged with aggravated car jacking.

She was remanded overnight to appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court the following day.

The arrests follow an alleged car jacking on Claret St, Doveton on November 19.

Two teenage occupants of a vehicle were allegedly threatened with a firearm and a shot was discharged when their car was stolen.

Both victims were physically uninjured during the incident.

FRANKSTON

Two cars, including a luxurious Jaguar coupe, were stolen from a Frankston house early on the morning of December 3.

Frankston Crime Investigation Unit detectives have been told at least two offenders entered the back of a Frankston property about 3am while a family of four were sleeping.

The intruders stole the keys of the Jaguar and a Toyota Corolla which were parked in the driveway, before making off with the cars.

Both cars were spotted by police a short time later in Doveton.

The silver Jaguar couple is a 2011 model with the registration plates VJAG63, while the white Toyota Corolla is a 2016 model with plates 1JR9WB.

MOOROODUC

Thieves were caught on a security camera before they stole it from Moorooduc Cricket Club in November.

Mornington police have released CCTV images of two men they wish to speak to in relation to the incident.

Investigators have been told two men driving an SUV went to the cricket club on Derril Road about 4am on November 12.

The pair stole the security camera which was attached to a bracket off the wall and fled.

Both offenders are perceived to be caucasian in appearance and aged 30 to 40-years-old.

The first man had a shaved head and was wearing a singlet top, jeans and grey hooded top.

The second man was wearing a black tracksuit jacket and pants with white stripes down the side of the pants and white shoes.

SEAFORD

A head on collision claimed the life of a lady in Seaford last Thursday morning.

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have been told a south bound vehicle crossed onto the north bound side of the road before they collided just after 6.30am.

The driver of the north bound car died at the scene, while the driver of the south bound car was arrested at the scene before being taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Lanes in both directions on the Nepean Highway were closed between Eel Race Rd and Station St.

A 20-year-old Sandringham man been charged with one count of dangerous driving causing death.
