A jealous, jilted junkie who tried to fight his ex-wife’s new “weak c***” boyfriend has been remanded in custody.
John Trench-Thiedeman abused and threatened his former partner’s new lover in a drug-addled rage after attending the woman’s Narre Warren home.
The 57-year-old of no fixed abode pleaded guilty to using indecent language in a public place and possessing drugs at a Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
The court heard Trench-Thiedeman had been married to the woman for seven years before they split up in 2017.
They divorced a year later and things went pear-shaped.
On August 26 this year at around 2am an angry Trench-Thiedeman attended the ex’s house, banging on the door and peering through her windows.
She watched his raging through CCTV cameras but he left before police arrived.
Two days later on August 28 he again went to the home, this time at 5pm when the boyfriend was there.
He again banged on the front door and the lover came out and repeatedly asked Trench-Thiedeman to leave.
But he stayed and launched a 20-minute drug-fuelled tirade, saying he wanted to fight him and calling him a “weak c***” in full view of the neighbours.
Three days later he came back, again in a rage, this time rambling incoherently through a closed door.
Police arrived and he was arrested, with cops finding a small quantity of ice in his pocket.
He was on a community corrections order at the time for similar offending.
Trench-Thiedeman’s lawyer said his client had mental health issues.
He said he took responsibility for his behaviour and “wasn’t shirking” from his illegal actions, which he said were committed while Trench-Thiedeman was very unwell.
But magistrate Andrew Halse didn’t agree.
“He was sufficiently well to know how to get to the woman’s address and know who would be there,” Mr Halse said.
He said while he accepted Trench-Thiedeman may have mental health issues, he also had to consider the safety of the community.
Trench-Thiedeman was remanded in custody for psychiatric and corrections order assessments and will face sentencing on November 24.
