In the long line, Narre Warren locals said they were excited to get inside and see the upgrade.
“We have been so excited about the renovation,” Tina McDonald said.
“They’ve been upgrading the store while staying open, it will be nice to shop in the new bright space.”
Ms McDonald said she’d made the effort to be at the opening for more than just the bargains on offer.
“Obviously the good deals they’ve got going are great, but I’m here to celebrate with the staff,” she said.
“They’ve all done such a good job keeping us happy the last few months, if they have to be up, we can get up a bit earlier too.”
In the moments before the countdown to the store opening, Spotlight’s general operations manager Simon Lovell had nothing but positive words for the store staff.
“This is one of our biggest stores in Victoria, and as far as I’m concerned this upgrade has been nine years in the making,” Mr Lovell said.
“I really just want to say a big thank you to all the staff that have continued with us through this time, you are all the heart and soul of the store.”
The upgrade includes an extension to the layout of the departments, with a focus on home decor, kitchen, dining and storage.
