Experienced cricket mentor Peter Marshall will steer Frankston Peninsula through its next phase.
Marshall, who was the Heat’s assistant coach last season, has stepped up to take the reins from Paul Boraston, who resigned after three seasons at AH Butler Reserve.
Marshall, a former league football umpire, was senior coach of Kingston Hawthorn before joining Frankston Peninsula.
He will form a coaching panel of assistants, including club stalwart Luke Walker and former Test spinner Jon Holland.
In a club statement, Frankston Peninsula said: “Marshy’s depth of experience, knowledge of the game, energy and communication style is unrivaled amongst the Premier Cricket competition”.
Frankston Peninsula has endured some turnover this off-season, with established players Jacques Augustin (retired), Brodie Symons (Prahran) and James Nanopoulos (Dandenong) departing.
The Heat has seven players in the Victorian pathway program.
Marshall is optimistic about the future and willing to provide opportunities to cricketers keen to test themselves at Premier level.
“We’re prepared to look over the fence, we’re prepared to see who’s wants to come down and challenge themselves at Premier and we will give opportunities if these younger guys, or even older blokes, are prepared to have a crack at Premier cricket,” he said.
