MPCA 2019-20: Crib Point makes strong start to District season

Crib Point, after back-to-back wooden spoons, has made a strong start to the MPCA District season.
The Magpies climbed to second spot after beating Mt Martha on Saturday, and it was a club champion who led them to victory.
Henry Dolphin clipped 54, with 6 fours and 2 sixes, as Cribby rushed to 5-138 off 27 overs, in reply to the Reds’ 8-134 off 40.
Chris Richmond (34) also batted well, while Scott Clark grabbed 3-29 with the ball to set up victory. For Mt Martha, Simon Street (63) and Rhys Whitling (31) did best with the bat.
Delacombe Park (6-131 off 27 overs) scored a strong win over Dromana (130). Ricky Ramsdale (3-23), Matt Trevena (2-17) and Dean Blight (2-25) set up victory with the ball before Andy Christides belted 55 and Joel Malcolm 30. Jon McGennisken top scored for Dromana with 39.
There was no play in the Rosebud-Seaford Tigers game, while Carrum was 1-51 chasing Hastings’ 6-192 when play was abandoned. Luke Hewitt (51) and Patrick Wilson (48no) did well for the Blues.
In Sub District, Tyabb opener Michael Edwards scored his second successive half-century to set up victory over Rye. Edwards made 53, supported by Tyler Boots (43) and Nick Taranto (37), while Sam Holland-Burch snared 3-18.
Ballam Park import Pradeep De Silva cracked 79 as the Knights compiled 7-186 against Boneo (3-141), the game finishing in a wash-out draw.
