MPCA 2019-20: Bowden century lifts Dromana to 230 against Crib Point

Whacking 17 boundaries, former New Zealand first-class player Dewayne Bowden celebrated his first century for Dromana in the MPCA.

Former New Zealand first-class player Dewayne Bowden has hit a purple patch of form for Dromana.

The left-hander crunched 105 (with 17 boundaries) in the Hoppers’ score of 230 against Crib Point in MPCA District on Saturday.

It followed a sizzling knock of 93 (with seven sixes) in a Twenty20 game days before.

Bowden played for Wellington in New Zealand and is known for his big hitting, fast bowling and love of a good time.

Dromana opener Mackenzie Henderson made 42 and shared a 152-run partnership with Bowden.

Crib Point spinner Henry Dolphin grabbed four wickets as the Magpies fought back to take Dromana’s last eight wickets for 44.

Crib Point was 3-27 at stumps.

Rosebud captain Billy Quigley went close to his second century fo the season when he was stranded on 93 not out as his side was skittled for 144 by Delacombe Park (0-8). Dean Blight (3-37) and Matt Trevena (3-35) did the damage.

Mitchell White (58) and Brayden Roscoe (38) steered Seaford Tigers to 7-239 against Hastings. Blues coach Rob Hearn took 3-50.

Rhys Whitling delivered a brilliant spell of fast bowling to put Mt Martha on track for its first win of the season after dismissing Carrum for 133. Whitling took 4-36 off 20 overs, with eight maidens, while Curtis Stone (2-31) and Max McKenzie (2-51) also impressed. Shaun Foster top scored for Carrum with 48. In reply, Mt Martha was 0-9.

In Sub District, Seaford batted well to post 239 against Tootgarook, Mathew Herbert (44), Ashley Sayers (39), Jordan Desmond (35) and Dil Pageni (32) leading the way.

Tyabb opener Michael Edwards was again in the runs, scoring 58 to help the Yabbies to 253 against Balnarring. Anthony Craddock (44) also impressed.

Jarvis Andersen (77) and Flinn Shiel (60) helped Boneo to 220 against Carrum Downs which crashed to 2-0 before stumps.

Ballam Park put up 280 against Skye.
