Former Frankston Peninsula speedsters Jake Wood and Jackson Mockett will be reunited after being selected in the MPCA County Week side.
They will spearhead an exciting MPCA team at the annual Melbourne Country Week carnival starting on February 17.
It will be Mockett’s first time in the MPCA purple.
Sorrento batting star Bobby Wilson will again captain the MPCA side, which will include Vic Country batsman Kierran Voelkl.
The side features six former Heat players — Wood, Mockett, Wilson, Voelkl, Justin Grant and Will Crowder.
Langwarrin batsman-spinner Matt Prosser and young Frankston YCW all-rounder Levi Mcloughlin-Dore will join Mockett as Country Week first-timers.
Wilson said he was “pretty happy’’ with the side.
“We’re probably a bit younger than what we’ve been the last couple of years but I’m pretty happy with the mix,’’ he said.
“We’ve got a lot of spin options which has worked for us in the past.
“I think our batting is pretty strong.
“With our bowling we’ve got Wood and Mockett up top which is pretty exciting and Pat Nagel who swings the ball early. Those three I’m pretty happy with.
“Hopefully we can restrict teams to under 200.’’
The MPCA has played off in the past three grand finals, winning it in 2018 (when Wilson scored 113no).
Its first game is at Frankston’s Jubilee Park on Monday, February 17.
