Star Premier Cricket all-rounder Brodie Symons wants to see what a change of environment can do to his cricket.

After playing over 100 First XI games for Frankston Peninsula, Symons has moved to Prahran, where he will reconnect with former under-19 representative coach Julien Wiener.

Symons still has the goal to play as high as he can and is eager to see what new threads can do.

“It was overall just for a bit of a change, a change of scenery, a change in environment,” he said.

“I think I have been at Frankston for eight or nine years, I wanted to see what a change in club would do in furthering my cricket.

“I think it’s (the goal) still to play as high as possible, the aim is to still play ideally for Victoria but basically just as high as possible.”

Symons batted in the top order and took the new ball for Frankston Peninsula, but a loaded True Blues side wouldn’t demand as much.

He isn’t expecting to bat in Prahran’s top order and is looking forward to batting with more liberty.

“Batting wise, I think I will play with a lot more freedom,” he said.

“They’ve got an established top order that’s made a lot of runs across the years, so I guess my role will hopefully play my natural game.”

Symons is yet to play a Premier Cricket final and is enthusiastic about joining a side that played off in a preliminary final.

“I haven’t played finals before so the biggest challenge for me would be, one, to hopefully make finals, and then if we do, perform in those big games,” he said.

“I think those would be the biggest challenges and then the others would be to perform week in, week out, and really earn my spot.”

Prahran has added Bailey Toseland (Essendon), Ben Sexton (Frankston Peninsula), Saksham Kapoor (St Kilda) and Tom Brooks (Western Suburbs, NSW) so far this off-season.
