A gunman is on the run following reports of a drive-by shooting attack at Edithvale.

It comes after dozens of alarmed residents reported hearing up to five gunshots being fired into a Keith Ave house on Monday night.

There was no reports of injuries, however a number of punctures, believed to be bullet holes, were found peppered across the property’s roller door.

Witnesses and concerned neighbours took to the Chelsea Edithvale Aspendale Community Hub Facebook page after hearing the shots about 6pm.

One witness said she saw a person shooting from a Volkswagen driving slowly along the street about 5.45pm.

“(The car that was shooting was) a Volkswagen Golf or GTI is what I witnessed,” she said.

“Paradise is turning to s*** pretty quickly … we’ve just had a full blown security system installed, not taking any risks,” another resident said.

The intersection at Keith and Montrose avenues was cordoned off with Clydebank Rd and Montrose Ave also blocked as investigators scoured the scene.

A Victoria Police spokesman confirmed an investigation was underway.

“Police are investigating after reports of shots being fired in Edithvale last night,” he said.

“Investigators have been told gunshots were heard in the vicinity of Keith Ave about 6pm and what appears to be bullet holes were located in a nearby roller door.

“No one was injured during the incident and the investigation is ongoing.”

Police urge anyone with information to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
