Shivnesh Jagroop fronts court over sexually grooming three girls
A Lynbrook man splashed hundreds of dollars to groom underage girls to talk dirty and even convinced a 14-year-old to meet him in a pubic toilet in Mentone.

A vile sex grub who engaged in sickening online conversations with underage girls convinced one of his victims to meet him at a public toilet where he sexually abused her for $250.
Shivnesh Jagroop was on Monday jailed for nine years and two months in the County Court having pleaded guilty to to two charges of using a carriage service to procure a person under 16, two of sexual assault of a child and single charges of using a carriage service for sexual activity with a person under 16, encouraging a child to be involved in sexual activity and sexual penetration of a child.
Jagroop, 34, of Lynbrook, did not initiate contact with any of the victims on social media platforms but they either got in touch with him or were introduced to him by their friends.
Judge Simon Moglia said it was a matter of great concern to the community that the online conduct of the victims, aged 13 and 15, contributed to their own exposure to harm and may have added to the market for online sexual exploitation of children.
“They are of course children. They are not criminally responsible for those offences but I acknowledge publicly the court’s concern, if I might say, on behalf of the community, that this conduct by the girls seems to have been cooperative,’’ he said.
“Either between them, or with others, and seems to have arisen in a certain subculture featuring a willingness by the girls to engage in harmful activity online with someone such as yourself (Jagroop).”
However, Judge Moglia said his comments about the girls’ conduct did not make Jagroop’s offending between August 2020 and December 2021 less serious.
Jagroop’s first victim was a 15-year-old who contacted him on Snapchat in August 2020 and over the following 11 days, a series of sexually explicit conversations took place between the two. He paid her $330 for doing what he asked her to do online.
He directed her and his two other victims to wear certain clothing to reveal parts of their body and to engage in sexual activity with a sex toy.
Judge Moglia said Jagroop was first spoken to by police after the parents of the 15-year-old girl reported his behaviour.
“Tragically for all concerned, 13 months later, you recommenced offending in a similar way, against a 13-year-old girl,” he said.
On December, 4, 2021, the court heard Jagroop convinced another victim to meet him at Mentone Racecourse Reserve.
One in the public toilet he gave her $150 cash and touched her breasts under her clothes, put his hands into her pants and got her to masturbate him before giving her a further $100.
His offending stopped after a covert online operative engaged with Jagroop using a victim’s Snapchat account.
In their victim impact statements, Judge Moglia said the girls’ parents spoke of the horror of not knowing what their children were being subjected to online, and being unable to protect them.
‘You offered them inducements for engaging sexually with you, even when you were aware of their ages.
“Your conduct escalated overtime and it seems only the intervention of police stopped what you were doing.”
Jagroop must serve three years and two months before he’s eligible for parole.
