Dandenong Market is encouraging everyone to “be kind” in its latest community campaign amid the COVID-19 outbreak.
The market last week provided 50 bags full of fresh fruit and vegetables to the most vulnerable in the community.
Dandenong Market general manager Jennifer Hibbs said while we had no control over what is happening around us, we needed to challenge ourselves to control how we react.
“Shopping on behalf of an elderly neighbour, freezing an extra meal for family or friends who are unwell or even buying a good book for someone who is in isolation are all examples of how people can give back to their community,” Ms Hibbs said.
“Do you know any health care professionals working extra hours? Say thank you by dropping off some chocolates or flowers to their front door.
“It is important, now more than ever, to lend a helping hand to members of the community who are struggling.”

She said the market wanted to highlight and celebrate those in the community who are doing their bit to help those most at risk.
“Nominations, photos and descriptions can be sent to Dandenong Market via social media or website dandenongmarket.com.au.”
“It’s about making sure that everyone in our community feels supported and connected during these trying times.”
