A drug-addled plumber with a “fairly considerable” criminal history has dodged jail for his role in a terrifying Seaford home invasion.

Former Pines and Langwarrin footballer Chaise Tedge, 27, was sentenced in the County Court on October 11 to a three year court order after pleading guilty to one charge of aggravated burglary.

Tedge was high on meth when he and an unknown accomplice stormed the Seaford home Dylan Nacamuli had rented with his girlfriend Tayla Fleming.

The enraged druggie and his thug assistant drove to the Kirkwood Ave home shortly after 11.30am on January 29, 2018.

Tedge wanted $500 from Mr Nacamuli for a “legit go-kart” sale gone wrong.

Mr Nacamuli was out front because he and his girlfriend were moving at the time but the scoundrels chased him into the house.

Tedge, who had abused the victims at the house weeks earlier, ran through the house to the backyard.

His brute cooffender threatened to “f***kin smash” Ms Fleming if she didn’t move out of the way.

He then pulled out a pocket knife, demanded her car keys and “smashed” Ms Fleming’s car windows.

A friend of the couple, Kristian Nygard, witnessed the ordeal.

Tedge and his mate fled the scene shortly after Mr Nacamuli’s mum, Tracey Dunn, arrived at the house.

He was arrested on February 4 when he gave a rambling police interview.

“I went around to see Dylan because he owes me money for like a legit jet ski, I mean a legit go kart,” he said.

“And the back gate was open and Dylan was there and then Dylan decided that he wanted to run from me, so I sat there talking to his girlfriend and then I left.

“I, well the, the back gate was open, I walked in the back gate yelling out Dylan and he saw me and then he yeah, just pretty much didn't want to talk to me and just walked inside.

“Dylan had taken off and an old lady had told (me I) better leave.”

Tedge also denied he or the unknown accomplice entered the home.

Judge Gabriele Cannon said Tedge “frightened a number of people who were at the house”.

“You entered the victim’s home a place where he was entitled to feel safe … with the intention of assaulting the victim in an apparent bid to recover money that was owed to you,” she said.

“It’s an aggravating feature that you chose to attend to the victim’s home apparently to back you up.”

The court heard Tedge grew up in Frankston playing footy and cricket.

Tedge was expelled from school in Year 10 but worked for his father after completing a plumbing apprenticeship.

Judge Cannon said Tedge was from a “fine family” but his drug addiction had tested that relationship.

She was also concerned Tedge, addicted to GHB and meth since age 18 and binge-drinking since 13, had a “hazy recollection” of committing the aggravated burglary.

Judge Cannon said Tedge’s “fairly substantial” criminal record reflected his “battles with alcohol and then drugs”.

Tedge has multiple priors for violence, drug possession, dishonesty, dangerous driving and drug driving.

He spent six months in jail for a litany of offences including burglary and car theft.

Tedge was serving two community corrections orders when he stormed Mr Nacamuli’s home.

As a result, he spent the best part of a year behind bars.

Judge Cannon said Tedge’s rehabilitation in custody and at Odyssey House should be allowed to continue in the community.

Tedge was convicted and given a strict three year CCO which includes 300 hours of unpaid community work and judicial monitoring.
