A vexatious, drunk and druggie son phoned 000 dozens of times falsely claiming his mum had been bashed, a house was on fire and there was a gas leak — just to annoy her.

Robert George Sarec wasted precious paramedics, police and firefighters’ time by ringing the emergency services with a series of fake assertions about the health of his mother and the safety of her home.

The 45-year-old Carrum Downs carpenter pleaded guilty to using a carriage service to make menacing calls and resisting emergency service worker on duty charges at the online Frankston Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

The court heard on February 5 and 76 this year Sarec phoned 000 24 times.

He would make false claims that his mum had been found unconscious at her home and needed an ambulance urgently.

He also said there had been thefts at the property and police needed to go there, that there was a gas leak and his mum’s neighbour’s house was on fire.

On one occasion Sarec, who was found illegally at the house, refused access to police and slammed the door in officers’ faces.

After cops accessed the home through the back door he resisted arrest and OC spray had to be deployed.

He wasn’t interviewed due to his inebriated state.

Sarec has a history of alcohol-fuelled bizarre behaviour, having once used his classic Mustang wedding car to do boozed-up burnouts in front of his neighbour’s house.

He then threatened the man, saying he was “going to knock his block off”, and resisted arrest when police arrived.

Police say the numerous calls to 000 could have resulted in genuine requests being delayed and risked the health and welfare of the community.

His actions, they say, put a serious risk to the safety of the public and wasted the valuable time of emergency workers who had to repeatedly attend to fake situations.

His defence lawyer said Sarec was “acting out of concern” for his mother and was “acutely anxious” about her safety.

She said Sarec had been assaulted in a violent road rage incident just a few days prior to making the calls and was suffering delayed concussion and memory loss at the time.

Magistrate Timothy Gattuso said he had “some concerns about (Sarec’s) behaviour” and there were serious issues regarding his ongoing alcohol and cannabis use and lack of insight into his offending.

Sarec was remanded in custody and will be sentenced on April 14.
