FIONA RIGGS’ organic artisan dog treats are tasty enough to make humans beg.
The PAWDinkum range is packed with super foods and designed to help tackle some common canine issues including stinky breath, achy joints and a lacklustre coat.
Ms Riggs creates the biscuits and treats by hand in small batches in her purpose-built, studio kitchen in Red Hill South.
The food stylist and recipe developer started the range about four years ago.
“I wanted something that wasn’t full of salt and sugar and other nasties,” she said.
“Why shouldn’t dogs eat as well as humans?”
After a lot of research and discussions with vets she launched the range.
“We use turmeric and coconut oil (the newly named Downward Doggy) which is great for inflammation; chicken and chia seeds (Chicken Chia-licious) for brain health; a fishy treat with flax seed for a shiny coat (Deep Sea) and activated charcoal and parsley (Woof Fresh) for stinky breath,” Ms Riggs said.
Her own dogs Dobby and Holly — both rescue pooches — are in-house taste-testers.
The range has been a hit at pet shops and health food shops across Australia and as far away as Japan.
“I started exporting to Japan earlier this year which is really exciting,” Ms Riggs said.
She also sells the range herself online.
A soon to be released spa range will also keep tails wagging.
