A Frankston mumpreneur who ditched the corporate grind to become a life coach is now in the running to be named a woman who changed the world.

Margaret Foley hit pause on her 60 hour-a-week corporate role after burnout sent her to hospital for the third time in five years.

She took a month off and focused on meditation, mindfulness and spiritual teachings.

The experience helped her realise “how dramatically life can be transformed when you cut through the jargon, reduce the hippy-dippy stuff and connect to self”.

The process inspired her to start a business to help other women across Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula.

“I ignored the people that told me I shouldn’t quit my $250K a year job to go and become a Life Coach,” she said.

“I ignored the people that told me I had lost my mind and had no idea what I was doing.

“I ignored the people that told me how many businesses fail in their first year.”

Ms Foley said Queen of My Own Universe aimed to make mindfulness and spiritual self connection accessible to everyday women by “taking away the “woo-woo factor”.

It offers simple and quick tools to help busy women change their lives.

Ms Foley runs women’s circles, offers personal coaching and group sessions with free or low cost options for disadvantaged clients.

She was recently named a finalist in the AusMumpreneur Awards in the Women’s Champion and Women Changing the World categories.

“I do hope that every day I am changing the world for the better, even just the world of one woman on each day,” Ms Foley said.

“Empowering women to overcome their past and step into their power and become Queen of their Own Universe is why I do what I do.”

The awards are run by The Women’s Business School and recognise Australian Mums achieving outstanding success in areas such as business excellence, tech, product development,

customer service and innovation.

Award winners will be announced in September.
