After extensive renovations in 2018 and more restorations this year, the Portsea Hotel is gearing up for its biggest summer season yet.

Established in 1876, the hotel is one of the most iconic places to eat on the peninsula.

Not only now looking better inside and out, the hotel also has a new team at the helm and will have plenty of new food and beverage offerings, including wood-fired pizzas from two newly installed ovens.

Jonathan Alston, who has previously worked at the Stokehouse and The Lucas Group and Mamas Buoi’s restaurants, has been appointed as executive chef.

Scott Elvery, who has 25 years experience in the dining industry, has also come on board as general manager.

“Portsea Hotel is a world-class beachfront venue and we now have the team who can elevate this Mornington Peninsula establishment to the next level,” Alston said.

“We’re so excited to welcome people in.”

Upgrades this year mean the hotel now has six new bars as well as three new ordering points. The kitchen has also tripled in size. Eleven of the hotel’s 22 accommodation rooms have also been renovated.

“Whilst we have been upgrading the venue, we are still very much a locals venue,” Elvery said.
