A DEVELOPER planning to build three apartment towers in Patterson Lakes wants to cut car parking spaces, leaving the community furious.
Cavendish Properties has lodged an application with Kingston Council to amend the carparking for its three building development at The Cove precinct.
The development includes two 10-storey blocks and one three-storey block, with 236 apartments in total.

COMMUNITY ANGER AT DENSE DEVELOPMENTS
All of the apartments within the buildings would be two or three bedroom with a handful of four bedroom dwellings.
When first approved the plans for 54-64 Pier One Drive and 115A McLeod Rd included a total of 837 car parks.
The developer has asked for car park reductions for all three buildings with just 391 parking spaces proposed — 446 less than originally planned.
Carrum and Patterson Lakes Forum spokesman Cameron Howe said the proposed changes would have “lamentable implications for congestion on McLeod Rd and overall amenity”.
“I have even spoken with a real estate agent concerned about property prices and the suitability of the project,” Mr Howe said.
He also feared the plan could “pave the way for the future redevelopment of The Cove Hotel itself”.
“What’s a town without a pub?” he said.
The issues was a hot topic on social media with more than 200 comments made about the request to cut car parks and the development itself.
“How can council let (the developer) reduce the parking?” Mike Hildred said.
“There is not enough at Pier 1 apartments already and that is only 64 apartments.”
Others were angry they weren’t told what was planned.
“We went to council two weeks ago and asked what was happening and got told nothing on their books and then get a letter re reduced parking for three already approved buildings?” Dorinda Mercier posted.
“This is a suburb not the Gold Coast.”
Ms Mercier was also concerned by the size of the approved development for an area she said was already congested.
“Now they want to add 600 plus people and visitors?” she said.
Kingston Council planning and development general manager Jonathan Guttmann said council had received about 30 objections to the proposal.
The Cove Hotel and Cavendish Properties have been contacted for comment.
