A major hospital revamp has delivered cutting edge medical technology to the Mornington Peninsula region.

Featuring two new wards, two world-class theatre rooms and 70 plus beds, Peninsula Private Hospital Frankston is now one of the region’s leading employers, with its 14 month expansion creating an additional 100 jobs.

The multimillion-dollar injection has seen the hospital’s total bed count grow close to 350 along with 18 day oncology chairs, 11 intensive care unit beds, eight operating theatres, one hybrid theatre, two cardiac catheter laboratories and an emergency department.

The new Hibiscus and Protea wards will host a combination of medical, oncology, cardiac and surgical patients, with the fully-integrated Stryker theatres which facilitate a mix of surgeries, with a focus on orthopaedics and general surgery.

The integrated Stryker system gives medics control of compatible equipment from a single intuitive touchscreen, increasing efficiency.

It also features ultra high definition quality images and video that gives surgeons clearer vision of body parts during surgery.

The hospital will have 100 new car spaces but will attract a fee after the first 15 minutes.

Chief executive Michelle Henderson said the group hosted close to 1000 medical specialists, with a total workforce soaring over 1000 people.

“Over the past 14 months I have watched our hospital grow as it continues to expand to meet the needs of the community … local residents no longer need to travel into the city for specialised private medical care,” she said.

“The expansion has created an additional 100 jobs within our local community, making us one of the largest employers on the Mornington Peninsula.”
